 උසස් පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් කිහිපදෙනෙකුගේ ස්ථාන මාරුවීම් නියෝග කර පසුව ඒවා හදිසියේම අවලංගු කිරීමට පියවර ගැනීම තුළින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොලිස් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව දැඩි ව්‍යාකූලත්වයකට පත්ව ඇති බව පැහැදිලි වන බව විපක්ෂ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී අජිත් පී. පෙරේරා මහතා ඊයේ ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

මාධ්‍ය හමුවක් අමතමින් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, පොලිස්පතිවරයා විසින් නියෝග කර තිබූ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති රන්මල් කොඩිතුවක්කු සහ පොලිස් මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය නාශක කාර්යාංශයේ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති  අශෝක ධර්මසේන යන මහත්වරුන්ගේ ස්ථාන මාරුවීම් ජාතික පොලිස් කොමිසම විසින් වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක වන පරිදි අවලංගු කිරීම හරහා පොලීසිය තුළ පවතින බරපතළ සම්බන්ධීකරණ ඌනතාව මැනවින් පෙන්නුම් කරන බවයි.

"රුපියල් බිලියන 10 ක් වටිනා මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය රැගත් බහාලුමක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට මූලිකත්වය ගත් ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති කොඩිතුවක්කු මහතාට ඒ වෙනුවෙන් සම්මානයක් පිරිනැමිය යුතුයි. එවැනි පසුබිමක ඔහු මාරු කිරීමට තීරණය කළේ කවුරුන්ද යන්න ගැටලුවක්. මුලින් ස්ථාන මාරු නියෝග නිකුත් කර පසුව ඒවා අවලංගු කරද්දී පොලීසිය තුළ ඇත්තේ විශාල අවුල් සහගත තත්ත්වයක් බව පෙනෙනවා. මෙවැනි තත්ත්වයක් රටට කිසිසේත්ම යහපත් නැහැ," යනුවෙන්ද මන්ත්‍රීවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

තවද, කරුණු කිහිපයක් මුල් කරගනිමින් ආණ්ඩුව අභ්‍යන්තරයේද බෙදීම් හටගෙන ඇති බව පැවසූ ඒ මහතා, ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථාවේ 22 වැනි සංශෝධනය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ආණ්ඩුව තුළ මතභේද පවතින බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේ අමාත්‍ය බිමල් රත්නායක මහතා බවද සිහිපත් කර සිටියේය.

22 වැනි ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනයට එරෙහිව සංවිධානය කර තිබූ මෑතකාලීන විරෝධතාවට ඇතැම් විපක්ෂ දේශපාලන පක්ෂ සහභාගී නොවීම පිළිබඳව විමසූ අවස්ථාවේදී අජිත් පී. පෙරේරා මහතා කියා සිටියේ, ඇතැම් කණ්ඩායම් විරෝධතාවට එක් නොවූවද සමස්ත විපක්ෂයේ සියලු දේශපාලන පක්ෂ අදාළ ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනයට මුළුමනින්ම විරුද්ධ බවයි.

Opposition MP Raises Concerns Over Police Department Turmoil

The Sri Lanka Police Department is facing significant turmoil following abrupt reassignments of several senior police officials, a move later rescinded. Ajith P. Perera, a member of the opposition in Parliament, highlighted these developments yesterday, underscoring the disarray within the police force.

During a press conference, Perera noted that the transfer orders for Senior Deputy Inspector General Ranmal Kodithuwakku and Deputy Inspector General of the Police Drug Eradication Unit Ashoka Dharmasena, issued by the Inspector General of Police, were abruptly annulled by the National Police Commission. This backtrack reveals a troubling lack of coordination within the police.

“Senior Deputy Inspector General Kodithuwakku should be recognized for his role in seizing a large consignment of narcotics worth billions of rupees. The decision to transfer him raises questions about who made that call. The police department is clearly in chaos with such contradictory actions—initial orders followed by cancellations. This situation is far from beneficial for the country,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, the MP pointed out internal divisions within the government over the 22nd Amendment to the constitution, recalling comments made by Minister Bimal Ratnayake. He stated that differing opinions exist within the ruling party regarding this significant constitutional change.

Addressing recent protests organized against the 22nd Amendment, Perera noted that while some opposition parties did not participate, all political factions within the opposition are united in their opposition to the amendment.
