Passenger Compensates for Damage after Throwing Bag from Bus Window
A passenger traveling on a bus in the Hatton area has compensated Rs. 18,000 for the damage caused when a bag was thrown from the window, striking the main front glass of another bus heading in the opposite direction. Palitha Veerasooriya, the manager of the Hatton bus depot, disclosed the incident occurred recently.
The bus, running from Hatton to Bagawanthalawa, was carrying a couple and their child. While the child was feeling unwell and vomiting inside the bus, the father, seeking to manage the situation, reportedly threw the bag out of the window. Unfortunately, the bag collided with the windshield of the driver's seat of an oncoming bus, resulting in significant damage.
Both drivers involved in the incident reported the matter to the Norwood Police, and the passenger later accepted responsibility for his actions. He visited the depot to pay for the damage, allowing the matter to be resolved amicably, according to the depot manager.
While passengers are advised not to throw any items out of the bus windows, the depot manager noted that some individuals ignore these instructions, leading to such unfortunate incidents.
