"මහනුවර නගරය ආලෝකමත් කරමු" තේමාවෙන්, දෙස් විදෙස් සංචාරක ආකර්ෂණය සහිත රාත්රී වෙළඳපොළ (Kandy Breeze Night Fest) මහනුවර නගරය කේන්ද්ර කර ගනිමින් නව මුහුණුවරකින්, මධ්යම පළාත් ආණ්ඩුකාර විශේෂඥ වෛද්ය හර්ෂ සුරංග ප්රනාන්දු මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් (03) දින ආරම්භ කෙරිණි.
මෙම රාත්රී වෙළඳපොළ සඳහා දේශීය හා විදේශීය සංචාරකයන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයක් දක්නට ලැබීම මෙවරද විශේෂත්වයකි. දේශීය ආහාරපාන, හස්ත කර්මාන්ත සහ සුළු පරිමාණ ව්යාපාරික නිෂ්පාදන ඇතුළත් ප්රදර්ශන හා අලෙවි කුටි රැසක් මේ සඳහා එක් කර තිබිණි.
මෙම වෙළඳ ප්රදර්ශනය මහනුවර යටිනුවර වීදිය ආවරණය වන පරිදි පස්වරු 06.00 සිට රාත්රී 12.00 දක්වා පැවැත්විණි.
මෙම වැඩසටහන වර්ණවත් කිරීම සඳහා මධ්යම පළාත් සංස්කෘතික දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ මැදිහත්වීමෙන් උඩරට, පහතරට සහ උතුරු පළාතේ ශිල්පීන්ගේ දායකත්වයෙන් සංස්කෘතික සංදර්ශනයක් ද, මධ්යම පළාත් සංචාරක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අනුග්රහය යටතේ අංගම්පොර සංදර්ශනයක් ද සංවිධානය කර තිබිණි.
තවද, සර්පයන් පිළිබඳ ලොව ප්රථම ජාත්යන්තර සමුළුව වන “1st World Congress on Snakes – 2026” සඳහා මහනුවරට එක්ව සිටින විදේශීය සංචාරකයෝ පිරිසක් ද මීට එක්වූහ.
මෙහි සමාරම්භක අවස්ථාව සඳහා මහනුවර මහ නගර සභාවේ නගරාධිපති චන්ද්රසිරි විජේනායක, නියෝජ්ය නගරාධිපති රුවන් කුමාර ගලපිටිය, මධ්යම පළාත් ප්රධාන ලේකම් අජිත් ප්රේමසිංහ, ලේකම් මධුපානි පියසේන, මධ්යම පළාත් සංස්කෘතික අධ්යක්ෂ ඉනෝදනී තඹවිට, පළාත් කර්මාන්ත අධ්යක්ෂ උදාර කොන්සිවත්ත, මධ්යම පළාත් සංචාරක අධ්යක්ෂ සඳමාලී හේවගේ, මහනුවර කලාප අධ්යාපන අධ්යක්ෂ චමරි අන්දරගේ, මහනුවර නාගරික කොමසාරිස් ඉන්දිකා කුමාරි අබේසිංහ යන මහත්ම මහත්මීහු සහ මහනුවර වෙළඳ සංගම් නියෝජිතයෝ, ව්යවසායකයෝ ඇතුළු නිලධාරීහු පිරිසක් එක් වූහ.
Kandy Breeze Night Fest Launches to Illuminate Kandy City
The Kandy Breeze Night Fest, themed "Let's Illuminate Kandy City," kicked off on the evening of March 3, under the leadership of Central Province Governor Dr. Harsha Suranga Pranandu. This vibrant night market is set against the backdrop of Kandy, showcasing attractions for both local and international tourists.
A remarkable aspect of this year's event is the participation of both local and foreign visitors. The market features a plethora of stalls exhibiting and selling local cuisine, handicrafts, and products from small-scale enterprises, reflecting a diverse array of cultural offerings.
Running from 6 PM to midnight, the market spans the streets of Kandy, transforming the urban landscape into a lively hub of activity and commerce.
To enrich the festivities, the Central Province Cultural Department facilitated cultural presentations, featuring contributions from artists across the Upcountry, Low Country, and Northern Provinces. Additionally, a specialized exhibition on the Agampora culture has been organized with the support of the Central Province Tourism Department.
International tourists attending the inaugural 1st World Congress on Snakes – 2026 in Kandy were also present at the event, adding a global flavor to the local celebration.
Ceremonial attendees included Kandy Municipal Council Mayor Chandrasiri Wijenayake, Deputy Mayor Ruwan Kumara Galapitiya, Central Province Chief Secretary Ajith Premasinghe, and numerous other officials, business representatives, and community leaders, all contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of this inaugural night market.
