 හෝමාගම මූලස්ථාන පොලිසියේ සිරමැදිරිය තුළ රඳවා සිටියදී මියගිය 29 හැවිරිදි ඉෂාර හර්ෂ කුමාර නැමැති තරුණයාගේ සිරුරේ ඉලඇට තුනක් බිඳී මොළයට ලේ වහනය වී ඇති බව වෛද්‍ය වාර්තාවලින් තහවුරු වන බවත්, ඔහු පොලිස් භාරයට ගැනීමට පෙර බාහිර පුද්ගලයන් පිරිසකගෙන්ද ප්‍රහාරයකට ලක්ව ඇති බවට තොරතුරු අනාවරණය වී ඇති බවත් බස්නාහිර පළාත භාර ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති සංජීව මැදවත්ත මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

පොලිස් මූලස්ථානයේදී ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ පොලිස් නිලධාරීන්ගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් පැවති විශේෂ මාධ්‍ය හමුවක් අමතමින් ඒ මහතා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

මියගිය තරුණයාගේ පශ්චාත් මරණ පරීක්ෂණ වාර්තාවට අනුව ඔහුගේ හිසට සිදුවූ තුවාල හේතුවෙන් මොළයට රුධිරය වහනය වීමක් සහ ඉලඇට තුනක් බිඳී යාමක් සිදුව ඇති බව තහවුරු වන බව පැවසූ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පතිවරයා, සිද්ධියේ කාලරාමුව පිළිබඳව මෙසේ කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළේය.

“මේ සිදුවීම් මාලාව පැය කිහිපයක් ඇතුළත සිදුවූවක්. ගම්වාසීන් හෝ පිටස්තර පිරිසක් ඔහුට පහරදී ඇත්තේ 24 වැනිදායි. පොලිස් පහරදීමක් සිදුවූයේ නම් එය සිදුවිය හැක්කේ 25 වැනිදායි. ඔහුට පහරදුන්නේ නැතැයි කියා මට බැහැර කරන්න බැහැ. නමුත් එම මාරාන්තික තුවාල සිදුකළේ කවුරුන්ද යන්න ස්ථිරවම තහවුරු කරගත හැක්කේ සම්පූර්ණ වෛද්‍ය වාර්තාව ලැබුණු පසුවයි.”

අදාළ සැකකරු හෝමාගම රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කළ අවස්ථාවේදී තමන් බයිසිකලයකින් ඇදවැටුණු බවට වෛද්‍යවරුන්ට ප්‍රකාශ කර තිබුණද, පසුව සිදුකළ විමර්ශනවලදී ඔහු එලෙස අනතුරකට ලක්වූවෙකු නොව ගම්මානයේදී පිරිසකගේ පහරකෑමට ලක්වූවෙකු බවට කරුණු හෙළිවූ බව ඒ මහතා කියා සිටියේය. ඒ අනුව ඔහුට පහරදුන් එම පිටස්තර කණ්ඩායම අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සඳහා වෙනම විමර්ශනයක් ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ.

එමෙන්ම, හෝමාගම පොලිසියේ නිලධාරීන්ගේ පැත්තෙන් සිදුවූ බරපතළ ක්‍රියාපටිපාටිමය දෝෂ පිළිබඳවද ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පතිවරයා මෙහිදී කරුණු අනාවරණය කළේය. සැකකරු පොලිස් භාරයට ගෙන ස්ථානයට රැගෙන ඒමෙන් පසු පැය ගණනාවක් අපරාධ අංශයේ රඳවා තබා සිරමැදිරියට දමා ඇත්තේ ඉන් අනතුරුව බවත්, අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමේදී ඔහුගේ ශාරීරික තත්ත්වය නිල පොත්වල සටහන් කිරීම, ඥාතීන් දැනුවත් කිරීම ඇතුළු අනිවාර්ය පොලිස් විධිවිධාන නිසි පරිදි ඉටුකර නොමැති බවත් හෙතෙම පෙන්වා දුන්නේය. පොලිස් නිලධාරීන්ට එරෙහිව කඩිනමින් විනය හා නීතිමය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගැනීමට මූලික හේතුව එම ක්‍රියාපටිපාටිමය පැහැරහැරීම බවද ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

Injured Youth Dies in Police Custody, Investigation Underway

A 29-year-old named Ishara Harsha Kumara has tragically died while in custody at the Homagama Police Station. Medical reports reveal that his body suffered three broken ribs, contributing to bleeding in the brain. There are also indications that he was assaulted by a group of unidentified individuals prior to being taken in by the police, according to Senior Deputy Inspector General Sanjeewa Medawatte, who shared these details at a special media briefing attended by senior police officials.

The post-mortem examination confirmed that injuries to his head had led to blood flow to his brain as well as the fractures, explaining the severity of his condition. The Senior DIG clarified that the sequence of events occurred within a few hours surrounding the incident. It was reported that Ishara was attacked by locals or outsiders on the 24th, while any possible police action would have taken place the following day, on the 25th. However, he noted the difficulty in denying police involvement in inflicting significant injuries until the complete medical report is available.

Initially, the suspect claimed to doctors that he had fallen off a bicycle when admitted to the Homagama Hospital. However, subsequent investigations revealed he had not been in an accident but was indeed assaulted by a group of individuals in the village. As a result, a separate inquiry is being initiated to apprehend the assailants involved in the attack.

Furthermore, the Senior DIG shed light on significant procedural failures on the part of the police. After being taken into custody, Ishara was held in the criminal division for several hours before being placed in a cell. It was pointed out that proper police protocols—including documenting his physical condition, notifying relatives, and other necessary procedures—were not adequately followed. The Senior DIG emphasized that these lapses in operational protocol highlight serious misconduct that could lead to prompt disciplinary and legal action against the involved police officers.
