ප‍්‍රසන්නගේ ඇපෑල ප‍්‍රතික්‍ෂෙපයි... කෝටියක් නොගෙවුවොත් වසර 09ක් සිර දඬුවම්..

 හිටපු අමාත්‍ය ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතාට ඒරෙඑහිව ඉඩමක් ගොඩකිරීම සඳහා අවසර ලබාදීමට අල්ලස් ලබාගැනීමේ සිද්ධියක් සම්බන්ධ නඩුවෙන් වරදකරු කර ඊට නියම කළ රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 100ක වන්දි මුදල, 2027 වසරේ ජූලි මස 06 වැනිදාට පෙර ගෙවා නිම කළ යුතු බව කොළඹ මහාධිකරණය නියෝග කළේය.

අධිකරණය නියම කළ මෙම ගෙවීම් පැහැර හරිනු ලැබුවහොත්, අභියාචනාධිකරණ නියෝගය කඩකිරීමේ වරද යටතේ විත්තිකරුට වසර 9ක සිරදඬුවමක් නියම කරන බව ද කොළඹ මහාධිකරණය මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කර සිටියේය.

මෙම නඩුව කැඳවූ අවස්ථාවේදී ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි නීතිඥවරුන් අදාළ වන්දි මුදල නියමිත කාලසීමාව තුළ ගෙවා නිම කරන බවට අධිකරණය හමුවේ පොරොන්දු වූහ. එම පොරොන්දුව සැලකිල්ලට ගත් අධිකරණය විත්තිකරු මුදාහැරීමට පියවර ගත්තේය.

ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා බස්නාහිර පළාත් ප්‍රධාන අමාත්‍යවරයා ලෙස කටයුතු කළ සමයේ, කොලොන්නාව මීතොටමුල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේ ඉඩමක් ගොඩකිරීමට අනුමැතිය ලබාදීම සඳහා ව්‍යාපාරිකයකුගෙන් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 640ක කප්පම් මුදලක් ඉල්ලා තර්ජනය කිරීමේ සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ඔහු වරදකරු වී තිබිණි.

එම වරදට රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 250ක දඩයක් සහ ලක්ෂ 100ක වන්දියක් ගෙවන ලෙස කොළඹ මහාධිකරණය මීට පෙර නියෝග කර තිබූ අතර, එම තීන්දුවට එරෙහිව ඉදිරිපත් වූ අභියාචනයක තීන්දුව ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා මෙම නඩුව කැඳවා තිබුණි.

Former Minister Prasanna Ranatunga Ordered to Pay Rs. 10 Million for Bribery Conviction

The Colombo High Court has issued a directive ordering former Minister Prasanna Ranatunga to settle a compensation amount of Rs. 10 million before July 6, 2027, in connection with a bribery case involving the approval of land development in Eravur.

The court emphasized that failure to make this payment would result in a nine-year prison sentence for the defendant under the charge of violating the order from the Appeals Court.

During the court proceedings, the attorneys representing Ranatunga assured that the compensation would be paid within the stipulated timeframe. Taking this commitment into account, the court decided to grant bail to the accused.

Ranatunga was found guilty of soliciting a bribe of Rs. 640,000 from a businessman to approve a land development project in the Mihintale area during his tenure as the Chief Minister of the Western Province.

Previously, the Colombo High Court had imposed a fine of Rs. 250,000 along with the Rs. 10 million compensation as part of the sentence. This latest case was brought to court following an appeal against that verdict.
