මීගමුව බන්ධනාගාරයේ ඛේදවාචකයක්.. දැනට මරණ 25ක්.. 100ක් රෝහලේ..

 මීගමුව බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ හටගත් දරුණු නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් මියගිය සංඛ්‍යාව මේ වන විට 25ක් දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ. මියගිය පිරිස අතර බන්ධනාගාර රැඳවියන් මෙන්ම ආරක්ෂක අංශ නිලධාරීන් ද සිටින බව තහවුරු වී තිබේ.

ඊයේ (05) පස්වරුවේ රැඳවියන් දෙපිරිසක් අතර ආරම්භ වූ මෙම ගැටුම, අද (06) පෙරවරුවේ බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් සහ රැඳවියන් අතර ඇති වූ දරුණු ගැටුමක් දක්වා වර්ධනය විය.

තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා ආරක්ෂක අංශ අහසට වෙඩි ප්‍රහාරද ඒල්ල කර ඇති අතර සහ දෙපිරිස අතර ඇති වූ ගැටුම්  හේතුවෙන් මෙම මරණ සංඛ්‍යාව මෙතරම් ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව පොලිස් ආරංචි මාර්ග සඳහන් කරයි.

රෝහල් ආරංචි මාර්ගවලට අනුව, ගැටුම් හේතුවෙන් තුවාල ලැබූ 100කට අධික පිරිසක් මේ වන විට මීගමුව රෝහලේ ප්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටිති. තුවාල ලැබූවන් අතර ද සැලකිය යුතු ආරක්ෂක අංශ නිලධාරීන් පිරිසක් සිටින බව වාර්තා වේ. රෝහල්ගත කළ පිරිසෙන් කිහිපදෙනෙකුගේ තත්ත්වය තවමත් බරපතළ මට්ටමක පවතින බව ද සඳහන් වේ.

පවතින නොසන්සුන්කාරී වාතාවරණය හමුවේ පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකාය සහ අවට පොලිස් ස්ථාන රැසක නිලධාරීන් බන්ධනාගාරයේ ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා යොදවා ඇත.

බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ පාලනය නතු කර ගැනීමට ආරක්ෂක අංශ තවදුරටත් මෙහෙයුම් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරමින් සිටින අතර, බන්ධනාගාරය අවට ප්‍රදේශයේ ආරක්ෂාව ද දැඩි කර තිබේ.

Violence Erupts in Meerigama Prison, Death Toll Rises to 25

The situation inside the Meerigama Prison has escalated into a significant crisis, with reports confirming that the death toll has reached 25. Among the deceased are not only inmates but also officials from the security forces.

The chaos began yesterday afternoon (5th) with a confrontation between two groups of inmates, which intensified into a violent clash involving prison authorities early today (6th).

In an effort to regain control, security forces resorted to firing into the air, as reports indicate that the disputes between the two factions contributed to the alarming number of fatalities.

According to hospital sources, over 100 people have sustained injuries during the turmoil and are currently receiving treatment at the Meerigama Hospital. Notably, several injured individuals include security personnel, with a few in critical condition.

In light of the ongoing unrest, special police task forces and local police units have been deployed to ensure security around the prison premises.

The security forces are actively conducting operations to restore order within the prison and have heightened security in surrounding areas as well.

This exceptional violence is considered one of the most severe incidents reported in a prison setting in recent history. Plans for a thorough governmental investigation into the incident are currently underway.
