ඉහළ අධිකරණවල විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීමට රජය දරන උත්සාහය සහ අධිකරණ පද්ධතියේ පවතින ගැටලු පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡා කිරීම සඳහා විපක්ෂයේ සියලු දේශපාලන පක්ෂ නියෝජිතයන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් විශේෂ හමුවක් ලබන බ්‍රහස්පතින්දා (23) පැවැත්වීමට කටයුතු යොදා ඇත.

විපක්ෂ නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මහතාගේ කැඳවීමකට අනුව කොළඹ මාකස් ප්‍රනාන්දු මාවතේ පිහිටි විපක්ෂ නායක කාර්යාලයේදී මෙම හමුව පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතය.

සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මහතා විපක්ෂ නායක ධුරයට පත්වීමෙන් පසු රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා එම කාර්යාලය වෙත පැමිණෙන ප්‍රථම අවස්ථාව මෙය වීම විශේෂත්වයකි.

විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස වැඩි කිරීමට රජය ගන්නා උත්සාහයට එරෙහිව විපක්ෂයේ සියලු කණ්ඩායම් ඒකාබද්ධ කරමින් පුළුල් පෙරමුණක් ගොඩනැගීමට නායකත්වය දෙන ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ ජාතික සංවිධායක නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා මීට පෙර විපක්ෂ නායකවරයාගෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කර තිබුණි.

මෙම සාකච්ඡාවේදී විනිසුරු විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීමට අමතරව, ඉහළ අධිකරණවල පවතින විනිසුරු පුරප්පාඩු අටක් පිරවීම ප්‍රමාද කිරීම ඇතුළු අධිකරණ ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ මතුව ඇති ගැටලු රැසක් පිළිබඳව දීර්ඝ ලෙස අවධානය යොමු කිරීමට නියමිතය.

සමගි ජන බලවේගය ප්‍රමුඛ විපක්ෂයේ දේශපාලන පක්ෂ රැසක් මෙම හමුවට එක්වීමට සූදානමින් පසුවන අතර, එහි සංවිධාන කටයුතු සඳහා මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් වන දයාසිරි ජයසේකර, අජිත් පී. පෙරේරා, සුජීව සේනසිංහ සහ ව්‍යවසායක දිලිත් ජයවීර යන මහත්වරුන්ගෙන් සමන්විත කමිටුවක් ක්‍රියා කරයි. ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණ ඇතුළු විපක්ෂයේ සියලු කණ්ඩායම් වෙත මේ සඳහා ආරාධනා කර ඇති බව මන්ත්‍රී දයාසිරි ජයසේකර මහතා තහවුරු කළේය.

අධිකරණ ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ මතුව ඇති මෙම අර්බුදකාරී තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව ඉදිරි පාර්ලිමේන්තු සතියේදී ද දැඩි ලෙස සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට විපක්ෂය අපේක්ෂා කරයි.

Opposition Gathers to Discuss Challenges in Sri Lanka's Judicial System

A pivotal meeting is set to take place on Thursday, November 23, bringing together representatives from all political factions within the opposition to deliberate on the government's efforts to extend the retirement age for judges and to address ongoing issues within the judiciary.

This significant gathering is organized at the behest of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and will be held at the opposition leader's office located on Maqsood Pranananda Mawatha in Colombo.

Reports indicate that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe will also be in attendance, marking a noteworthy occasion as it will be his first visit to the office since Premadasa assumed the opposition leadership.

Earlier, Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka People's Front, urged the opposition leader to unify all factions against the government's initiative to raise judges' retirement age, emphasizing the need to forge a comprehensive front.

In addition to discussing the proposed raise in retirement age, the meeting aims to extensively address various issues confronting the judicial sector, including the delay in filling eight vacancies within the higher courts.

Numerous political parties under the umbrella of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya are preparing to join this meeting, with a committee comprised of MPs Dayasiri Jayasekara, Ajith P. Perera, Sujeewa Senasinghe, and businessman Dilith Jayaweera overseeing the organizational aspects. Jayasekara has confirmed that invitations have been extended to all opposition parties, including the Sri Lanka People's Front.

The opposition expects to engage in a vigorous discussion regarding the judicial crisis during the upcoming parliamentary sessions next week.
