අපි එක් වෙමු..- නාමල් සජිත්ට ලියයි...

ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණ විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම ගැන්වීමේ වයස හෝ සේවා කාලය අත්තනෝමතික ලෙස දීර්ඝ කිරීමට දරන උත්සාහයට එරෙහිව, සියලු ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී දේශපාලන පක්ෂ ඒකාබද්ධ කරමින් සාකච්ඡාවක් කැඳවන ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ ජාතික සංවිධායක නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා විපක්ෂ නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මහතාගෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කරයි.

විපක්ෂ නායකවරයා වෙත විශේෂ ලිපියක් යොමු කරමින් නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ, කිසිදු සාධාරණ හේතුවකින් තොරව විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ සේවා කාලය දීර්ඝ කිරීමට රජය ගන්නා මෙම පියවර නීතියේ ආධිපත්‍යයට මෙන්ම රටේ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී ක්‍රියාවලියට එල්ල කරන දැඩි බලපෑමක් බවයි.

ඒ අනුව, පාර්ලිමේන්තුව නියෝජනය කරන සහ නියෝජනය නොකරන, ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය අගය කරන සියලු දේශපාලන පක්ෂ නායකයින්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් මේ පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට කඩිනම් හමුවක් සංවිධානය කරන ලෙස නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා විපක්ෂ නායකවරයාගෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් ඉල්ලා ඇත.

මෙම බරපතළ කරුණ සම්බන්ධයෙන් විපක්ෂ නායකවරයාගේ කඩිනම් අවධානය යොමු වනු ඇතැයි තමන් අපේක්ෂා කරන බව ද එම ලිපිය මගින් අවධාරණය කර තිබේ.

Call for Discussion Against Proposed Judiciary Extension in Sri Lanka

In a bid to counter the government's attempts to unilaterally extend the retirement age and service duration of Supreme Court judges, Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, has urged the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa to convene a discussion uniting all democratic political parties.

In a special letter addressed to the opposition leader, Rajapaksa highlighted that the government's move to extend the tenure of judges lacks any justifiable grounds and poses a severe threat not only to the rule of law but also to the country's democratic processes.

The letter further states that organizations including the Sri Lanka Bar Association and various international legal bodies have already expressed their opposition to this situation. It emphasizes the need for all stakeholders who value the rule of law to collectively advocate against this initiative.

Accordingly, Rajapaksa has requested the opposition leader to swiftly organize a meeting involving all political party leaders, both those represented in Parliament and those outside it, who cherish democratic principles to discuss this critical issue.

The letter concludes by expressing hope that the opposition leader will promptly focus on this significant matter.
