2017 වසරෙන් පසුව මෙරට වාර්තා වූ ඉහළම ඩෙංගු රෝගීන් සංඛ්‍යාව මේ වන විට වාර්තා වෙමින් පවතින බවත්, ආසාදිතයන් සංඛ්‍යාව ලක්ෂයකට ආසන්න වෙද්දීත් සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය ඒ පිළිබඳ නිහඬ පිළිවෙතක් අනුගමනය කිරීම කනගාටුවට කරුණක් බවත් වෛද්‍ය හා සිවිල් අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය සමිති සන්ධානයේ සභාපති විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා පවසයි.

මෙම වසරේ අප්‍රේල් මාසය දක්වා සාමාන්‍ය මට්ටමක පැවති රෝගීන් වාර්තා වීම, අප්‍රේල් මස අවසානයේ සිට දිනකට දහසකට ආසන්න ප්‍රමාණයක් දක්වා සීඝ්‍රයෙන් ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි. 

මෙම හදිසි වර්ධනයට හේතුව නව වෛරස් ප්‍රභේදයක් ද නැතහොත් වෙනත් පාරිසරික සාධකයක් ද යන්න පිළිබඳව විද්‍යාත්මක විශ්ලේෂණයක් සිදු කිරීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බව වෛද්‍යවරයා අවධාරණය කරයි.

පළාත් පාලන ආයතන මගින් සිදුකරන කසළ කළමනාකරණ සහ අපද්‍රව්‍ය බැහැර කිරීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය අඛණ්ඩව දුර්වල වීම මෙම රෝග ව්‍යාප්තියට ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් බලපා ඇති බව ද හෙතෙම වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

ලබන වසරේදී හෝ මෙම ඩෙංගු අවදානම පාලනය කර ගැනීම සඳහා දේශපාලන භේදයකින් තොරව විෂය ප්‍රවීණයන්ගේ සහාය ලබාගත යුතු බව පවසන විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා, විද්‍යාත්මක ප්‍රවේශයක් සහිත දිගුකාලීන වැඩපිළිවෙළක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙස රජයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

Dengue Cases Surge in Sri Lanka, Health Authorities Urged to Act

Sri Lanka is witnessing the highest number of dengue fever cases reported since 2017, with the total nearing 100,000. This alarming rise has prompted concern over the Ministry of Health's silence on the matter, as expressed by Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa, President of the Medical and Civil Rights Professionals Association.

Dr. Sanjeewa highlighted that the number of reported cases was stable until April this year, but surged dramatically to nearly 10,000 daily by the end of the month.

The need for scientific analysis to determine whether this sudden spike is linked to a new virus strain or other environmental factors is critical, he emphasized.

He further noted that the ongoing weaknesses in waste management and the disposal of refuse by local government authorities have significantly contributed to the spread of this disease.

For the upcoming year, Dr. Sanjeewa insists that increasing efforts to manage dengue risks must transcend political divisions, calling for the support of subject matter experts. He urged the government to implement a long-term plan with a scientific approach to combat the dengue threat effectively.
