බිත්තර මිල ඉහළට.. හතලිහ පනී.. රජයට චෝදනා..

 

බිත්තර මිල ඉහළ යාම සම්බන්ධව මේ රජය හා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සෘජුව වගකිවයුතු යැයි සමස්ත ලංකා බිත්තර නිෂ්පාදකයින්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති සරත් රත්නායක මහතා පවසයි.

සංශෝධිත බිත්තර මිල ප්‍රකාශයට පත්කරමින් මාධ්‍ය හමුවේ ඒ මහතා ඒ බව පැවසීය.

"ඉරිඟු කියන්නේ මේ ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ  අත්‍යාවශ්‍ය සාධකයක්.  අද වන විට ඉරිඟු ආනයනය මුළුමනින්ම නවතා දමා තිබෙනවා. දේශීය ඉරිඟු නිෂ්පාදනය බිත්තර නිෂ්පාදනයට තරම් නොවේ. සහල් මේ සඳහා භාවිතා කරන්න කියලා රජයෙන් නිවේදන නිකුත් කලත් එය කළ හැක්කක් නෙවෙයි.

ඉරිඟු වලට මොනයම් හෝ ආදේශකයක් භාවිතා කිරීම  සතාගේ සෞඛ්‍ය සම්පන්න භාවයට ගැටලුවක්.  සහල් ආදී විවිධ ආදේශක භාවිතා කිරීමෙන් සතුන්ට සෙම හා උදරයේ ආසාදන නිරන්තරයෙන් ඇතිවීමත් ඒ හරහා සියයට විස්සකින් තිහකින් බිත්තර නිෂ්පාදනය අවම වීම මේ වන විට ගොවීන් දැඩි සේවයක් මුහුණපා ඇති ගැටලුවක්. එමෙන්ම විවිධ වූ කූට වෙළදුන් සත්ව  ආහාර නිෂ්පාදන රසායනික ද්‍රව්‍යවලට හාරසායනික ද්‍රව්‍යවලට හා ඖෂධ වලට ඩොලර් මයිට් ආදිය කලවම් කිරීම මගින් සතුන් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් මියගොස් තිබෙනවා.  එය ගොවියාට දරාගත හැකි පාඩුවක් නෙවෙයි.  කෙසේ හෝ සත්ත්ව ආහාරවලින් ගුණාත්මක භාවය ගිලිහී යාම නිසා වෙනදා මෙන් නොව දෛනික විතර නිෂ්පාදනය.  දැවැන්ත ලෙස පහත බැස තිබෙනවා.

මෙය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව හොඳින්ම දන්නා කරුණක් වුවත්.  ඒ වෙනුවෙන් කිසිදු වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් සකස් කරන බවක් පේන්නනැහැ. අපි වෙළඳ ඇමතිතුමා කෘෂිකර්ම ඇමතිතුමා සහ ජනාධිපතිතුමා එක්ක මේ පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡාවක් ඉල්ලනවා. ඒ සාකච්ඡාවට අවශ්‍ය සියලු කරුණු අපි සතුව තියෙනවා. කිසිම විදිහකට සාකච්ඡාවකින් තොරව නිලධාරීන් ඉරිඟු වෙනුවට සහල් පාවිච්චි කරන්න වැනි ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමෙන් මේ කර්මාන්තය රැක ගන්නට හැකියාවක් නෑ.

බිත්තර කර්මාන්තය කියන්නේ ඉල්ලුමට සැපයුම තියෙන භාණ්ඩයක් වගේම අවම මිලකට මන්ද පෝෂණය දුරු කර ගැනීම සඳහා එක ඒකකයක් මිලදී ගතහැකි ප්‍රෝටින් බහුල ආහාරයක්. රට මන්දපෝෂණයෙන් තුරන් කිරීමට බිත්තර ගොවියා දක්වන්නේ ඉතා විශාල කාර්යභාරයක්. එම නිසා අතිගරු ජනාධිපතිතුමා කෘෂිකර්ම ඇමතිතුමා කෘෂිකර්ම නියෝජ්‍ය ඇමතිතුමා වෙළඳ ඇමතිතුමා ආදී කොටගත් බලධාරීන් එක්ක අපි සාකච්ඡාවක් ඉල්ලා සිටිනවා. 

කෙසේ වෙතත් අද පවතින තත්ත්වය උද්ගත වන්නට බිමේ ගොවියාගේ ්ගැටලු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව හරහා හෝ වෙනත් කුමන කණ්ඩායමක් මගින් හෝ  බලධාරීන් මගින් දේශපාලන නායකත්වයට සන්නිවේදනය නොවීම නිසා ගැටලු ඇතිවී ඇති බව නම් කිව හැකියි. 

බිත්තර මිල තීරණය කරන සෑම අවස්ථාවකම අපි මුලින්ම බිත්තර නිෂ්පාදකයා ගැන සිතනවා. ඒ එක්කම වෙළඳුන් ගැනත් සිතන්නට අවශ්‍යයි. අපි නිෂ්පාදනය කරන බිත්තරයක් පරිභෝජනය කරන්නට පිරිසක් නොහිටියොත් යන ගැටලුව අපි හොඳින් අවබෝධ කරගෙන ඇති බව කිව යුතුයි. මෙවර අපි තීරණය කළ මිලට එහා මිලක් නියම කළ යුතුව තිබුණත් අන්න ඒ කියන සාධකය නිසා පාරිභෝගිකයාට ඉතා පහසුවෙන් මිලදී ගැනීමට හැකිවන පරිද්දෙන් මිල ගණන් තීරණය කලා" යැයි ඒ් මහතා පැවසීය.

Government Accountability Urged Amid Rising Egg Prices in Sri Lanka

The recent surge in egg prices has prompted strong calls for accountability from the government and relevant departments, as emphasized by Sarath Rathnayake, the Chairman of the All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association.

Addressing the media during a press conference where adjusted egg prices were announced, Rathnayake highlighted that the local production of essential feed, particularly maize, has been halted due to a complete ban on imports. "Currently, domestic maize production does not meet the requirements for egg production. Despite the government's advisories to use rice in place of maize, this is not feasible," he pointed out.

He raised alarming concerns about the health of poultry, stating that substituting maize with alternatives like rice could lead to serious health issues, such as avian diseases, which have resulted in significant reductions in egg production—from a worrying 20% to as low as 30%—placing immense strain on farmers. He further noted the dire repercussions of chemical contamination in animal feed, linking it to the recent deaths of substantial numbers of poultry, creating unsustainable losses for farmers.

Rathnayake asserted that it is well known within the relevant departments that these issues persist, yet no appropriate measures have been established to mitigate them. "We are requesting discussions with the Minister of Trade, the Minister of Agriculture, and the President regarding these pressing matters. We have all the necessary information to support our case. There is no way to protect this industry through statements from officials suggesting the use of rice instead of maize without proper dialogue," he declared.

The egg industry, noted for its crucial role in providing affordable protein to combat malnutrition, is facing severe challenges. Rathnayake reiterated the significant responsibility placed on egg producers to alleviate hunger, urging top officials, including the President and relevant ministers, to engage in this critical conversation.

He also expressed discontent over the apparent lack of political communication from authorities towards addressing farmer issues, which has only exacerbated the existing challenges.

"In every instance of price determination, we think first about the egg producers, but it is equally necessary to consider the merchants. We understand the problem well. While we should have set a price beyond this decision, the existing conditions necessitate pricing that allows consumers to access eggs easily," he concluded.
