දිවයින පුරා සීඝ්‍රයෙන් පැතිර යන ඩෙංගු රෝගී තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා, රෝගීන් වැඩි වශයෙන් වාර්තා වන අධි අවදානම් කලාපවල පිහිටි පාසල්, විශ්වවිද්‍යාල සහ වෘත්තීය පුහුණු ආයතන අවම වශයෙන් සති දෙකක කාලයකට වසා දමා එම පරිශ්‍රයන් පිරිසිදු කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස වෛද්‍ය හා සිවිල් අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය සමිති සන්ධානය රජයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටී.

එම සන්ධානයේ සභාපති, විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ රජයේ, අර්ධ රජයේ සහ පෞද්ගලික අංශයේ සියලුම අධ්‍යාපන ආයතන සම්බන්ධයෙන් මෙම තීරණය කඩිනමින් ගත යුතු බවයි.

මේ වන විට බස්නාහිර පළාත ඇතුළු ප්‍රදේශ රැසකින් ඩෙංගු රෝගීන් 70,000කට ආසන්න සංඛ්‍යාවක් නිල වශයෙන් වාර්තා වී ඇති අතර, රෝගය වැළඳී ඇති සැබෑ රෝගීන් සංඛ්‍යාව මීට වඩා බෙහෙවින් ඉහළ විය හැකි බව ද ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

රෝහල් පද්ධතියේ පවතින දැඩි තදබදය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් ඒ මහතා කියා සිටියේ, බොහෝ රෝහල්වල ධාරිතාව ඉක්මවා යාම හේතුවෙන් රෝගීන්ට ඇඳන් යට සහ කොරිඩෝවල රැඳී සිටීමට සිදුව ඇති බවයි.

මේ හේතුවෙන් සෞඛ්‍ය සේවකයන් දැඩි ලෙස වෙහෙසට පත්ව ඇති අතර, රෝගීන්ට නිසි නේවාසික පහසුකම් නොමැති වීමෙන් ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිත අවදානම ද ඉහළ ගොස් තිබේ.

"අශ්වයා පලා ගිය පසු ඉස්තාලය වැසීමෙන් පලක් නැහැ. රෝගීන් සංඛ්‍යාව තවදුරටත් ඉහළ ගොස් තත්ත්වය පාලනයෙන් ගිලිහී ගිය පසු පාසල් හෝ විශ්වවිද්‍යාල වසා දැමීමට වඩා, පවතින බරපතළ තත්ත්වය තේරුම් ගෙන අධ්‍යාපන හා සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශ එක්ව කඩිනම් තීරණයක් ගත යුතුයි," යැයි ද විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Urgent Call for School Closures Amid Dengue Surge

In response to a rapidly escalating dengue outbreak across the nation, a professional association of health and civil rights advocates is urging the government to temporarily close schools, universities, and vocational training centers in high-risk areas for a minimum of two weeks. This drastic measure would allow for a thorough cleaning of these facilities to curb the spread of the illness.

Dr. Chamala Sanjeewa, President of the association, emphasized the need for immediate action, indicating that this decision is critical for all educational institutions within the public and private sectors.

Current reports indicate that nearly 70,000 cases of dengue fever have been officially recorded, particularly concentrated in several regions, including the Western Province. Dr. Sanjeewa cautioned that the actual number of infected individuals could be significantly higher than reported.

Commenting on the strain on the hospital system, he noted that many healthcare facilities are exceeding their capacity, resulting in patients being forced to stay in hallways and under beds. This overwhelming situation has not only exhausted healthcare workers but also increased the risks to patients due to insufficient accommodation.

"Closing schools after the horse has bolted is futile. As the number of cases continues to rise and the situation worsens, the Ministries of Education and Health must act swiftly, recognizing the severity of the existing conditions rather than waiting for a crisis to unfold," Dr. Sanjeewa further asserted.
