ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ බ්‍රිස්බේන් නුවර ධාවනය වූ දුම්රියක් තුළදී මගියෙකුට වීදුරු බෝතලයකින් පහර දී තුවාල සිදුකළ 22 හැවිරිදි ශ්‍රී ලාංකික තරුණයෙකුට එරට අධිකරණය මගින් දින 85ක සිර දඬුවමක් නියම කර තිබේ.

පසුගිය අප්‍රේල් මස 25 වනදා  අදාළ තරුණයා සහ ඔහුගේ මිතුරෙකු දුම්රියේ ගමන් කරමින් සිටි පුද්ගලයෙකුට කිසිදු හේතුවකින් තොරව පහර දී ඇති අතර, එම පුද්ගලයා දුම්රියෙන් බැස යාමට උත්සාහ කළ අවස්ථාවේදී ඔහුව යළිත් ඇතුළට ඇදගෙන ගොස් අමානුෂික ලෙස පහර දී ඇති බව අධිකරණයේදී අනාවරණය විය.

එහිදී සැකකාර ලාංකික තරුණයා විසින් වීදුරු බෝතලයකින් මගියාගේ හිසට පහර දී ඇති අතර, ඉන් ඔහු බරපතළ තුවාල ලබා ඇත.

නඩු විභාගය අතරතුර සැකකරු ප්‍රකාශ කර ඇත්තේ තමා මෙම පහරදීම සිදුකළේ ස්වයං ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා බවයි. කෙසේ වෙතත්, එම තර්කය ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ විනිසුරුවරයා, මෙය කිසිදු වරදක් නොකළ පුද්ගලයෙකුට එල්ල කරන ලද ඉතා දරුණු සහ බියගුළු ප්‍රහාරයක් බව අවධාරණය කරමින් සිර දඬුවම නියම කළේය.

22-Year-Old Sri Lankan Sentenced for Assault on Train Passenger in Brisbane

A 22-year-old Sri Lankan man has been sentenced to 85 days in prison by a Brisbane court after assaulting a fellow train passenger with a glass bottle. This incident, which has raised concerns about safety in public transport, occurred on April 25 of this year.

The young man, along with a friend, attacked an unsuspecting passenger without any provocation while aboard the train. Reports reveal that when the victim attempted to exit the train, he was forcibly pulled back inside and subjected to further brutal assault.

During the attack, the assailant struck the victim on the head with a glass bottle, resulting in severe injuries to the latter.

In court, the defendant claimed that he acted out of self-defense, but the presiding judge dismissed this argument. Emphasizing the severity of the assault, which was directed at an innocent individual, the judge deemed it necessary to impose a prison sentence.

Authorities have noted a worrying trend of violent incidents within Queensland's public transport system. In response, police and security agencies are taking steps to enhance passenger safety by implementing CCTV surveillance systems.
