2026 වසරේ මැයි මාසයට සාපේක්ෂව ජූනි මාසයේ මෙරට උද්ධමන වේගය ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව ජනලේඛන හා සංඛ්යාලේඛන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නිවේදනය කරයි.
එම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් නිකුත් කරන ලද ජාතික පාරිභෝගික මිල දර්ශකයේ නවතම දත්ත වාර්තාවට අනුව, මැයි මාසයේදී සියයට 5.4ක් ලෙස පැවති මතුපිට උද්ධමනය ජූනි මාසය වන විට සියයට 6.5ක් දක්වා වර්ධනය වී ඇත.
මෙම උද්ධමන ඉහළ යාම සඳහා ආහාර සහ ආහාර නොවන කාණ්ඩ දෙකෙහිම මිල ගණන් ඉහළ යාම බලපා තිබේ. ඒ අනුව මැයි මාසයේදී සියයට 1.5ක් ලෙස සටහන් වූ ආහාර කාණ්ඩයේ උද්ධමනය ජූනි මාසයේදී සියයට 3.3ක් දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් ඇත. එමෙන්ම ආහාර නොවන කාණ්ඩයේ උද්ධමනය ද සියයට 8.6 සිට සියයට 9.3 දක්වා වර්ධනයක් පෙන්නුම් කරයි.
ජාතික පාරිභෝගික මිල දර්ශකය, 2026 මැයි මාසයේදී 218.8ක් ලෙස සටහන් වූ අතර එය ජූනි මාසයේදී 222.3 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් තිබේ. මෙය පෙර මාසයට සාපේක්ෂව සියයට 1.6ක මාසික වැඩිවීමකි.
මෙම මාසික වෙනස සඳහා ආහාර කාණ්ඩය මගින් සියයට 1.11ක දායකත්වයක් සහ ආහාර නොවන කාණ්ඩය මගින් සියයට 0.49ක දායකත්වයක් ලැබී ඇති බව වාර්තාවේ සඳහන් වේ.
ආර්ථිකයේ වඩාත් ස්ථාවර මිල මට්ටම් නිරූපණය කරන, එනම් ආහාර, බලශක්ති සහ ප්රවාහන වැනි අස්ථාවර මිල ගණන් සහිත අයිතමයන් ඉවත් කර ගණනය කරනු ලබන 'යටිදැරි උද්ධමනය' ද ඉහළ ගොස් ඇත. මැයි මාසයේදී සියයට 4.3ක් ලෙස පැවති යටිදැරි උද්ධමනය ජූනි මාසය වන විට සියයට 5.0ක් දක්වා වර්ධනය වී තිබේ.
දත්ත වාර්තාවට අනුව ප්රවාහන වියදම්වල කැපී පෙනෙන ඉහළ යාමක් දක්නට ලැබෙන අතර, එය මැයි මාසයේ පැවති සියයට 16.9 සිට ජූනි මාසයේදී සියයට 20.6 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් ඇත.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, නිවාස, ජලය, විදුලිය සහ ගෑස් යන අංශවල උද්ධමනය සියයට 8.2 සිට සියයට 7.3 දක්වා සුළු අඩුවීමක් පෙන්නුම් කරයි.
Consumer Price Inflation in Sri Lanka Rises Sharply in June 2026
The Department of Census and Statistics has reported a significant increase in inflation rates for June 2026 compared to May of the same year. According to the latest data from the National Consumer Price Index, inflation surged from 5.4% in May to 6.5% by June.
This upward trend in inflation has been attributed to rising prices across both food and non-food categories. In particular, food inflation, which was recorded at 1.5% in May, escalated to 3.3% in June. Similarly, non-food inflation showed an increase from 8.6% to 9.3% during the same period.
The National Consumer Price Index registered a value of 218.8 in May, which jumped to 222.3 in June, marking a monthly increase of 1.6% compared to the previous month.
The report highlighted that food contributed to 1.11% of this monthly change, while non-food items accounted for 0.49%.
Additionally, the 'core inflation,' which reflects more stable price levels by excluding volatile items like food, energy, and transportation costs, also rose from 4.3% in May to 5.0% in June.
The data showed a notable spike in transportation costs, which increased significantly from 16.9% in May to 20.6% by June. In contrast, inflation within housing, water, electricity, and gas sectors saw a slight decline from 8.2% to 7.3%.
