මෙය පසුගිය වසරට සාපේක්ෂව රුපියල් මිලියන 10,000ක කැපී පෙනෙන වැඩිවීමක් බව අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දෙයි.

පසුගිය දින කිහිපය තුළ පෞද්ගලික අංශය වී කිලෝවක් රුපියල් 112ක් වැනි ඉහළ මිලකට මිලදී ගෙන ඇති බව ද ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

එසේම, ඉදිරියේදී ඇති විය හැකි 'එල් නිනෝ' කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව රජය දැඩි අවධානයෙන් පසුවන බවත්, ඕනෑම අභියෝගාත්මක තත්ත්වයකට මුහුණ දීමට සූදානම් බවත් අමාත්‍යවරයා වධාරණය කළේය.

Government Allocates Rs. 26 Billion for Rice Procurement Amid Price Surge

The Government has allocated Rs. 26 billion for rice procurement, as confirmed by Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe. This significant allocation marks an increase of Rs. 10 billion compared to the previous year.

In remarks to the media, he highlighted that with the private sector also raising rice prices, farmers are currently experiencing a favorable situation. Recently, private buyers have been purchasing rice at elevated prices, around Rs. 112 per kilogram.

Furthermore, Samarasinghe emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the potential impact of the 'El Niño' weather conditions and is prepared to face any challenging situations that may arise.

He also noted that forecasts suggest an increase in rainfall in November, prompting farmers to begin preparations for planting activities to mitigate flooding risks.
