 හැටන් දික්ඔය නගර සභාව යටතේ පාලනය වන හැටන් මහජන පොළ භූමියේ පදිකයින්ට අවහිර වන සේ වෙළදසැලෙන් එපිටට රාක්ක ගසා වෙළදාම් සිදු කල වෙළදුන්ගේ අලුතින් ඉදි කල අනවසර කොටස් ඉවත් කිරිමට යෑමේදි (20) දින හැටන් දික්ඔය නගර සභාවේ නිළධාරින් සහ වෙළෙදුන් අතර දැඩි උණුසුම් තත්වයක් ඇති විය.

හැටන් දික්ඔය නගර සභාවේ ආදායම් පරිපාලක ඇතුලු නිළධාරින් එම වෙළදුන්ට අනවසර ඉදි කිරිම් ඉවත් කරන ලෙසට දැනුම් දි තිබුණද එම වෙළදුන් එය නොතකා පදික වේදිකාව අවහිර වන සේ වෙළදාම් කිරිම හේතුවෙන් හැටන් දික්ඔය නගර සභාවේ නිළධාරින් (20) දින එම අනවසර ඉදිකිරිම් ඉවත් කරමින් සිටියදී එම මහජන පොළ භූමියේ වෙළදුන් හැටන් දික්ඔය නගර සභාවේ විරුද්ධ පක්ෂයේද මන්ත්‍රීවරුන්ගේ සහයෝගයද ලබා ගෙන එම අනවසර ඉදි කිරිම් ඉවත් කිරිමට විරෝධය දක්වනු ලැබූහ.

එම වෙළදුන් කියා සිටින්නේ, හැටන් නගරයේම එවැනි අනවසර ඉදිකිරිම් ඉවත් කරන ලෙසත් එක්තරා ව්‍යාපාරික කොටසක් පමණක් ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් අනවසර ඉදි කිරිම් ඉවත් කිරිම යුක්ති සහගත නොවන බවයි.

මහජන පොළ භූමියෙ ඇතැම් වෙළදුන්ගේ සහ නගර සභාවේ විපක්ෂයේ මන්ත්‍රීවරුන්ගේ විරෝධය හමුවේ හැටන් දික්ඔය නගර සභාවේ නිළධාරින් වෙළදසැල් කිහිපයක ඉදි කර තිබූ අනවසර ඉදි කිරිම් ඉවත් කරනු ලැබූහ.

Heated Confrontation Erupts Over Unauthorized Structures at Haten Dickoya Market

A tense standoff unfolded on the 20th as officials from the Haten Dickoya Urban Council confronted vendors over unauthorized constructions encroaching upon public walkways at the market. In a scene charged with emotion, both sides clashed amidst a growing sense of urgency regarding pedestrian access.

The revenue officers, alongside other municipal officials, had previously warned the vendors to dismantle the unauthorized structures. However, many of the sellers disregarded the directive, continuing their operations at the expense of the public walkway's accessibility. During the removal process, the vendors, with the backing of certain opposition council members, mounted a counter-protest against the officials' actions.

Vendors voiced frustration, arguing that the enforcement of demolishing unauthorized constructions was selectively targeting certain businesses within Haten. They contended that such actions are neither fair nor justifiable, asserting that if illegal structures must go, then all unauthorized constructions throughout the city should be addressed.

Despite the opposition from vendors and political figures, the officials proceeded to remove several of these unauthorized structures from multiple shops within the market area. This decisive action highlighted the ongoing struggle between local authorities and traders concerning regulation compliance in the public domain.
