 දිවයින පුරා විවිධ තරාතිරම්වල පසුවන පුද්ගලයන් පන්සියයකට අධික පිරිසකගේ වත්කම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ චෝදනා විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාව පුළුල් විමර්ශනයක් ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.

මෙම පිරිස අතර හිටපු මැති ඇමතිවරුන් ඇතුළු දේශපාලනඥයන් 60කට ආසන්න පිරිසක් සහ රජයේ උසස් නිලධාරීන් 100කට ආසන්න පිරිසක් සිටින බව වාර්තා වේ.

කොමිෂන් සභාව වෙත ලැබී ඇති පැමිණිලිවලට අනුව මෙම විමර්ශන ක්‍රියාත්මක වන අතර, මෙතරම් විශාල පිරිසකට එරෙහිව වත්කම් විමර්ශනයක් එකවර ආරම්භ කළ පළමු අවස්ථාව මෙය බව කොමිසමේ උසස් නිලධාරියෙක් සඳහන් කළේය.

මෙහිදී අදාළ පුද්ගලයන් විසින් කොමිසම වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති වත්කම් බැරකම් ප්‍රකාශවල නිරවද්‍යතාව පිළිබඳව විශේෂ අවධානයක් යොමු කෙරේ.

වත්කම් බැරකම් ප්‍රකාශ ලබා දිය යුතු නිලධාරී කාණ්ඩයට මෑතකදී මාධ්‍යවේදීන් සහ වාප්පු ලිපිකරුවන් ද ඇතුළත් කර ඇති අතර, පසුගිය ජූනි 30 වනදායින් එම ප්‍රකාශ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමේ කාලය අවසන් විය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, වෙබ් අඩවියේ පැවති තාක්ෂණික ගැටලු හේතුවෙන් එම කාලය ජූලි 07 වනදා දක්වා දීර්ඝ කිරීමට ද පියවර ගැනිණි.

2023 අංක 09 දරන දූෂණ විරෝධී පනතේ 80(1) වගන්තියට අනුව, වත්කම් බැරකම් ප්‍රකාශ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම පැහැර හරින පුද්ගලයන්ට එරෙහිව දඩ මුදල් අය කිරීමක් හෝ වසරකට නොවැඩි සිරදඬුවමක් පැනවීමට අධිකරණයට බලතල පවතින බව ද අල්ලස් කොමිසම අවධාරණය කරයි.

Bribery Commission Launches Extensive Investigation into Asset Declarations of Public Officials

The Bribery Commission has initiated a comprehensive inquiry into allegations of corruption involving a significant number of individuals across various ranks in the country. This unprecedented investigation targets around 60 former cabinet ministers and an approximate 100 high-ranking government officials.

Complaints submitted to the commission have prompted these investigations, marking the first time such a wide-ranging asset inquiry has been launched against this many individuals simultaneously, as disclosed by a senior official from the commission.

Particular emphasis is being placed on the accuracy of asset declaration statements submitted by the individuals under scrutiny. Recently, the category of officials required to declare their assets now includes journalists and public relations officers, a change made just before the deadline for submissions on June 30.

However, due to technical issues with the commission's website, the deadline was extended to July 7, allowing more time for compliance.

According to Section 80(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023, the court is empowered to impose fines or sentences of up to one year for those who fail to submit their asset declarations, a point highlighted by the Bribery Commission in its ongoing efforts to combat corruption.
