 පාතාල කල්ලි සහ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය ජාවාරම්කරුවන්ගෙන් මාසිකව වැටුප් ලබාගන්නා බවට තොරතුරු අනාවරණය වී ඇති පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් 200කට ආසන්න පිරිසක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් රජයේ බුද්ධි අංශ පුළුල් විමර්ශනයක් ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.

මහජන ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍ය ආනන්ද විජේපාල මහතා ‘ඉරිදා ලංකාදීප’ පුවත්පතට ප්‍රකාශ කර ඇත්තේ, ජාවාරම්කරුවන් සමඟ සබඳතා පැවැත්වූ නිලධාරීන් දස දෙනෙකු පමණ මේ වන විටත් සේවයෙන් ඉවත් කර ඇති බවයි.

ජාවාරම්කරුවන් සමඟ සමීප සබඳතා පැවැත්වූ බවට හඳුනාගත් තවත් නිලධාරීන් හය දෙනෙකු සම්බන්ධයෙන් විශේෂ විමර්ශන ක්‍රියාත්මක වන අතර, ඔවුන් පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු පසුගිය සතියේදී බුද්ධි අංශ වෙත යොමු කර ඇත. පාතාලය සහ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය ජාවාරම මැඩලීමට මෙවැනි දූෂිත නිලධාරීන් ප්‍රබල බාධාවක් බව අමාත්‍යවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.

මේ අතර, පාතාල සාමාජිකයෙකු සමඟ සබඳතා පැවැත්වූ බවට එල්ල වූ චෝදනා මත පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකායේ (STF) හිටපු අණදෙන නිලධාරී සහ නැගෙනහිර පළාත් භාර හිටපු ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති වරුණ ජයසුන්දර මහතාගෙන් අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පසුගියදා ප්‍රශ්න කර තිබේ.

එහිදී පැය හතරකට ආසන්න කාලයක් ඔහුගෙන් ප්‍රකාශ සටහන් කරගත් බව වාර්තා වේ. මෙම සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් විධිමත් විමර්ශනයක් පවත්වන ලෙස ඔහු විසින්ම කළ ඉල්ලීමකට අනුව රජය මෙම පියවර ගෙන ඇත.

දූෂිත නිලධාරීන් සහ ජාවාරම්කරුවන් අතර පවතින ජාලය බිඳ දැමීම සඳහා කල්පිටිය ඇතුළු ඇතැම් පොලිස් ස්ථානවල සියලුම නිලධාරීන් මාරු කිරීමට ද පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

මෙරට පාතාලය සහ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය ජාලය මුළුමනින්ම මර්දනය කිරීම සඳහා පොලිස් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව තුළ සිටින ‘කළු බැටළුවන්’ හඳුනාගෙන ඔවුන්ට එරෙහිව දැඩි නීතිමය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගන්නා බව රජය වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කරයි.

Extensive Investigation Launched into Police Officers Allegedly Tied to Drug Traffickers

In a significant move to combat corruption within law enforcement, approximately 200 police officers are currently under investigation by government intelligence for allegedly receiving monthly payments from organized crime and drug trafficking syndicates.

Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alles, disclosed in an interview with the "Sunday Lanka Deepa" newspaper that about ten officers who maintained connections with traffickers have already been dismissed from their positions.

Additionally, inquiries are underway regarding six other officers identified as having close associations with criminals, with this information having been relayed to intelligence services last week. The minister emphasized that corrupt officers pose a serious obstacle to efforts aimed at eradicating organized crime and drug trafficking.

Following allegations of maintaining ties with criminal elements, a former commander of the Special Task Force (STF) and a former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Eastern Province, V. Jayasundara, was recently questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department. Reports indicate that his statement was recorded over a four-hour period. The government initiated this investigation at his request to ensure a thorough examination of the matter.

In a bid to dismantle the networks linking corrupt officials to traffickers, measures are being implemented to transfer all officers in certain police stations, including Kalpitiya.

The government has further stated that it will identify and take stringent legal action against corrupt officials and link them to the broader drug trafficking networks operating within the police department.
