Yemen's Defense Minister Warns of Retaliation Against Saudi Intervention
Major General Mohammed Nasr Al-Ateefi, Yemen's Minister of Defense, has issued a stark warning that any prolonged military intervention by Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s internal affairs will be met with severe retaliation. His remarks came during a media briefing today, where he underlined the readiness of Yemen's armed forces to respond decisively if the "arrogant and criminal actions" by the Riyadh regime continue.
Highlighting the preparedness of Yemeni forces, Al-Ateefi emphasized that they are ready to engage in any military directives issued by the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Sayyed Abdul Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi. He reiterated that the armed forces stand fully armed and prepared to act on any instructions.
Should the ongoing blockades imposed on the Yemeni population persist, the defense ministry, along with the unified military command, is prepared to retaliate with targeted strikes against key infrastructure, including airports and ports, under a strategic framework of "surrounding the encirclement." Al-Ateefi stated this plan remains firmly in place.
"Our adversaries must understand that the Yemeni nation now possesses military power and capabilities to face any situation," he declared. "The resistance demonstrated over the past decade has been remarkable, and we are confident in our ability to continue this momentum toward victory."
Meanwhile, the Northern Political Council has released a statement condemning the recent Saudi attacks on Sana'a International Airport, describing it as a violation of the fundamental human rights of the Yemeni people, including their right to travel and access medical care. They asserted that such aggression warrants a "direct and proportionate" response.
The political body blamed Saudi Arabia for attempting to seize Yemeni resources while undermining international agreements and human rights. They reiterated that the Riyadh regime must be held accountable for the consequences of its aggressive actions.
Since 2015, Saudi Arabia has launched a large-scale military campaign against Yemen, supported by political and military backing from Western nations, including the United States. Although a ceasefire was brokered by the United Nations in 2022, military actions against Yemen by the U.S., Britain, and Israel have yet to cease, indicating a continuous cycle of conflict.
