විහාරාධිපතිකමට භික්‍ෂුන් දෙනමක් ගුටි ඇණගනිති..

විහාරාධිපති ධුරය සම්බන්ධයෙන් රිදීමාලියද්ද සෙනසුන්ගල පුරාණ රජමහා විහාරයේ භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා දෙදෙනෙකු අතර ඇති වූ ආරවුලක් දුරදිග යාමෙන් එක් හිමිනමකට පහර දී තුවාල සිදුකිරීමේ සිද්ධියක් වාර්තා වේ.

මෙම පහරදීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් සැකපිට අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් හිමිනම ලබන 06 වැනිදා දක්වා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාර ගත කිරීමට මහියංගණය මහෙස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණය නියෝග කර තිබේ.

විහාරස්ථානයේ හිටපු විහාරාධිපති හිමියන් අපවත්වීමෙන් පසු මෙම ධුරය සඳහා අළුකැටියාවේ සීලවංශ හිමි සහ කෙසෙල්පොත මේධංකර හිමි අතර කලක සිට ගැටුම් පවතී.

මීට පෙර ද මෙම ආරවුල් සම්බන්ධයෙන් මහියංගණය පොලිසියට පැමිණිලි කිහිපයක් ලැබී තිබූ අතර, අධිකරණය මගින් දෙපාර්ශ්වයටම අත්හිටුවූ සිරදඬුවම් පවා නියම කර තිබූ පසුබිමක මෙම නවතම ගැටුම හටගෙන ඇත.

පොලිසිය පවසන පරිදි, පසුගිය 24 වැනිදා සීලවංශ හිමියන් තමා විහාරාධිපති ලෙස පත්කළ බවට ලිපියක් ද රැගෙන විහාරස්ථානයට පැමිණ එහි වැඩ විසූ මේධංකර හිමියන්ගෙන් විහාරයේ යතුරු ඉල්ලා ඇත.

එහිදී ඇති වූ බහින්බස් වීමක් දුරදිග ගොස් සීලවංශ හිමියන් තවත් පුද්ගලයන් දෙදෙනෙකු සමඟ එක්ව මේධංකර හිමියන්ට පහර දී පලාගොස් තිබේ.

පහරකෑමෙන් තුවාල ලැබූ මේධංකර හිමියන් මහියංගණය රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කිරීමෙන් පසු වැඩිදුර ප්‍රතිකාර සඳහා බදුල්ල ශික්ෂණ රෝහල වෙත මාරු කර යවා ඇත.

සැකකාර හිමිනම අරාව ප්‍රදේශයේ සැඟව සිටියදී මහියංගණය පොලිසිය විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් අතර, පහරදීමට සහාය වූ බව කියන සෙසු සැකකරුවන් දෙදෙනා ප්‍රදේශයෙන් පලාගොස් තිබේ.

ඔවුන් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සඳහා පොලිසිය විශේෂ විමර්ශනයක් ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

මෙම විහාරස්ථානයේ ඇති ගුහාවක පුරාවස්තු පවතින බවට විශ්වාසයක් පවතින අතර, අපවත්වූ විහාරාධිපති හිමියන්ගේ නමින් වූ බැංකු ගිණුමක රුපියල් ලක්ෂ හැටකට අධික මුදලක් තැන්පත් කර තිබීම ද මෙම ගැටුමට හේතු වී ඇති බවට සැක කෙරේ.

Dispute Among Monks at Ancient Temple Leads to Assault Incident

A violent altercation has erupted between two monks at the historic Rajamaha Viharaya in Ridimaliyadda, related to the temple leadership position. Reports indicate that one monk was assaulted, resulting in injuries during the prolonged conflict over the appointment.

The suspect involved in the assault has been remanded in custody until the 6th of this month, according to a directive from the Mahiyangana Magistrate’s Court. This decision follows a series of complaints received by the Mahiyangana Police concerning ongoing disputes between the monks vying for the role of chief monk after the previous appointee's passing.

Competing factions have emerged, notably between Ven. Silavanse and Ven. Medhankara, both from the Aluketiya area. The tension has been escalating for some time now. Previous complaints regarding these conflicts have led the court to impose restrictions, which ultimately set the stage for this latest incident.

According to police, on the 24th of the month, a letter was presented by Ven. Silavanse, claiming his appointment as the chief monk, and he requested the keys to the temple from Ven. Medhankara. This provoked a heated confrontation that culminated in Ven. Silavanse, alongside two others, physically attacking Ven. Medhankara before fleeing the scene.

Ven. Medhankara, who sustained injuries from the assault, was initially admitted to Mahiyangana Hospital; however, due to the severity of his condition, he has since been transferred to Badulla Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the primary suspect was apprehended while in hiding in the Arava area, although two other accomplices involved in the assault remain unaccounted for. The police have launched a special investigation to capture the fugitives.

There are suspicions surrounding this incident that it may be linked to valuable artifacts believed to exist within the temple’s caves, as well as significant deposits exceeding Rs. 700,000 in a bank account associated with the late chief monk.
