කටුනායක, ආඬිඅම්බලම ප්‍රදේශයේදී පොලිස් නිලධාරියෙකුගේ ගිනි අවිය උදුරාගෙන තවත් නිලධාරියෙකුට වෙඩි තබා මත්කුඩු ලෝලියෙකු පලාගොස් ඇති බව කටුනායක පොලිසිය පවසයි.

මෙම වෙඩි ප්‍රහාරයෙන් තුවාල ලබා ඇත්තේ කටුනායක පොලිස් ස්ථානයට අනුයුක්තව සේවය කරන නිලධාරියෙකි. ඔහුගේ පාදයකට වෙඩි වැදී ඇති අතර, වැඩිදුර ප්‍රතිකාර සඳහා ඔහු මීගමුව දිස්ත්‍රික් මහ රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර තිබේ.

ඒ අනුව සහාය පිණිස යතුරුපැදියකින් තවත් නිලධාරියෙකු එම ස්ථානයට පැමිණ ඇත. ඔහු පැමිණෙනවාත් සමඟම වහා ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ සැකකරු, එතැන සිටි රථ වාහන පොලිස් නිලධාරියෙකු සතු පිස්තෝලය උදුරාගෙන සහායට පැමිණි නිලධාරියාට වෙඩි තබා ඇත.

අනතුරුව එම ගිනි අවියද රැගෙන සැකකරු යතුරුපැදියකින් පලාගොස් ඇති බව මූලික පොලිස් පරීක්ෂණවලදී හෙළි වී තිබේ.

පලාගිය සැකකරු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සඳහා කටුනායක පොලිසිය විශේෂ මෙහෙයුමක් ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

Police Officer Injured in Shooting Incident in Katunayake

A shooting incident in the Andiambalama area of Katunayake has left a police officer injured, according to local authorities. The officer was shot at while attempting to apprehend a suspect linked to drug trafficking, who subsequently fled the scene.

The injured officer, who serves at the Katunayake police station, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and has been admitted to the Negombo District General Hospital for further treatment.

Details emerging from the investigation indicate that two police officers were patrolling the vicinity on a motorcycle when they observed an individual acting suspiciously near a location suspected of drug concealment. They attempted to apprehend the individual, but a scuffle ensued.

During the confrontation, a nearby resident alerted a team of police officers stationed at a roadblock about the commotion. In response, another officer arrived at the scene on a motorcycle to provide support.

As the responding officer approached, the suspect seized the patrol officer's firearm and opened fire on him. Following the assault, the suspect reportedly escaped the scene on a motorcycle, as revealed by initial police investigations.

The Katunayake police have initiated a special operation to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
