හමුදා ලොක්කුගේ රථයක් මාධ්‍යවේදියෙකුගේ හැපේ.. මාධ්‍යවේදීයාට හමුදාවෙන්, පොලිසියෙන් හිරිහැර..- -SLWJA

 'ද මෝනින්' (The Morning) පුවත්පතේ වෙබ් අඩවි කර්තෘ සහ තුර්කි රාජ්‍ය රූපවාහිනියේ (TRT) ශ්‍රී ලංකා පුවත් සම්බන්ධීකාරකවරයෙකු වන මාධ්‍යවේදී ලහිරු දොලොස්වල මහතාට සහ ඔහුගේ පවුලේ සාමාජිකයන්ට යුද හමුදා සහ පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් පිරිසක් විසින් සිදු කරන ලද අමානුෂික හිරිහැර කිරීම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෘත්තීය ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගේ සංගමය (SLWJA) සිය දැඩි පිළිකුල පළ කර සිටියි.

මෙම සිදුවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් කරුණු දක්වමින් එම සංගමය විසින් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා වෙත විශේෂ ලිපියක් යොමු කර තිබේ.

පසුගිය ජූලි 15 වන දින ලහිරු දොලොස්වල මහතා සිය බිරිඳ සහ දරුවන් දෙදෙනා සමඟ වාහනයෙන් ගමන් කරමින් සිටියදී, යුද හමුදාපතිවරයාගේ ආරක්ෂක රථ පෙළට අයත් ලෑන්ඩ් කෲසර් රථය දොලොස්වල මහතාගේ වාහනයේ පිටුපස ගැටී අනතුරක් සිදු කර ඇත. එම අවස්ථාවේදී සිද්ධිය සිය ජංගම දුරකථනයෙන් පටිගත කිරීමට උත්සාහ කළ මාධ්‍යවේදී දොලොස්වල මහතාට, හමුදාපති ආරක්ෂක අංශයේ මේජර්වරයෙකු ඇතුළු පිරිසක් මරණීය තර්ජනය කරමින් එය වැළැක්වීමට කටයුතු කර තිබේ.

අනතුරුව මේ පිළිබඳ පැමිණිලි කිරීමට වැලිකඩ පොලිස් ස්ථානයට ගිය අවස්ථාවේදී, යුද හමුදාපතිවරයාගේ ආරක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් ඇතුළු 30ක පමණ හමුදා පිරිසක් පොලිසිය වට කරමින් මාධ්‍යවේදීයාට සහ පොලිස් නිලධාරීන්ට තර්ජනය කර ඇත. එහිදී හමුදා රියදුරාට එරෙහිව පැමිණිලි කිරීමට බාධා පමුණුවා ඇති අතර, පසුව උසස් පොලිස් නිලධාරීන්ගේ මැදිහත් වීමෙන් පැමිණිල්ල සටහන් කර ගත්තද, හමුදා නිලධාරීන්ගේ බලපෑම මත එම පැමිණිල්ල විකෘති කර ලියා ඇති බවට සංගමය චෝදනා කරයි.

වැඩිදුරටත් අනාවරණය වන්නේ, මාධ්‍යවේදී දොලොස්වල මහතා පැය 4කට අධික කාලයක් පොලිසියේ රඳවා තබාගෙන ඇති අතර, ඔහුගේ ජංගම දුරකථනයේ තිබූ දර්ශන බලහත්කාරයෙන් මකා දමා ඇති බවයි. මෙම සිද්ධිය කිසිදු මාධ්‍ය ආයතනයකට ලබා නොදෙන ලෙසත්, එසේ කළහොත් බරපතළ ප්‍රතිවිපාකවලට මුහුණ දීමට සිදුවන බවටත් හමුදා නිලධාරීන් ඔහුට තර්ජනය කර තිබේ.

රටේ නීතිය හා සාමය ආරක්ෂා කිරීමට බැඳී සිටින ආරක්ෂක අංශ විසින්ම සිවිල් පුරවැසියන්ගේ සහ මාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගේ මූලික අයිතිවාසිකම් මෙලෙස පාගා දැමීම බරපතළ තත්ත්වයක් බව පෙන්වා දෙන වෘත්තීය ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගේ සංගමය, සන්නද්ධ සේවාවන්හි සේනාධිනායකයා ලෙස වහාම මේ පිළිබඳ විධිමත් පරීක්ෂණයක් පවත්වා අදාළ නිලධාරීන්ට එරෙහිව විනය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගන්නා ලෙස ජනාධිපතිවරයාගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

SLWJA Condemns Attack on Journalist Lahiru Doloswala

The Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA) has expressed its strong condemnation regarding the brutal harassment of journalist Lahiru Doloswala, a contributor to 'The Morning' newspaper and a liaison for Turkish State Television (TRT) in Sri Lanka, alongside members of his family, by armed forces and police officials.

In light of the incident, the SLWJA submitted a special letter to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake outlining the details of the attack.

On July 15, while traveling with his wife and two children, Doloswala's vehicle was struck from behind by a Land Cruiser belonging to the security detail of the Army Commander. The journalist attempted to record the incident on his mobile phone but was threatened with death by a group, including a major from the army's security division, who intervened to stop him.

When Doloswala proceeded to the Welikada police station to file a complaint, he and the police officials were confronted by approximately 30 army personnel, including security officers of the Army Commander, who surrounded them and issued threats. His attempt to lodge a complaint against the military driver was obstructed, and while senior police officials later facilitated the filing of the complaint, the SLWJA alleges that it was manipulated under the influence of military officers.

Moreover, Doloswala was reportedly detained by the police for more than four hours, during which time footage on his mobile phone was forcibly deleted. The army officials threatened him against sharing any information with the media, warning of severe repercussions should he disclose the events.

Highlighting the grave situation, the SLWJA pointed out that the very institutions responsible for upholding the nation's law and peace are infringing upon the fundamental rights of civilians and journalists. They have called upon the President to initiate an immediate inquiry into the incident and take disciplinary action against the associated officials.

A copy of the letter has also been forwarded to the Minister of Public Security, the Minister of Media, the Army Commander, and the Inspector General of Police.
