දිට්වා සුලි කුණාටුවෙන් හානියට පත් උඩරට දුම්රිය මාර්ගයේ කොටගල සිට රදැල්ල දක්වා සිදු කරන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතුවලට පවතින අයපහත් කාලගුණයෙන් බාධා පැමිණ ඇති බව එම ව්‍යාපෘති භාර පෞද්ගලික සමාගමේ තාක්ෂණික නිළධාරි අතුල විජේසිංහ මහතා පැවසීය.

ස්ථායිකරණ ක්‍රමවේදය මගින් නායයැමේ අවධානම අවම කිරිමේ ව්‍යාපෘතිය (RLVMMP) යටතේ කොටගල සහ තලවකැලේ දුම්රිය ස්ථාන දෙක අතර ග්‍රේග්ලි වතුයායේ නාය ගිය ස්ථානයේ සිදු කරන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු ජාතික ගොඩනැලිගි පර්යේෂණායතනයේ සහ ජයිකා ආයතනයේ නිර්දේශමත ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සිදු කරනු ලබයි.

පවතින අයහපත් කාලගුණ තත්වය හමුවේ කළු ගල් ලබා ගැනීමේ අපහසුතාවයක් පවතින නිසා ව්‍යාපෘතියේ වැඩ කටයුතු අඩාල වී ඇති බවත්, දැනට එම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ වැඩ කටයුතු 60%ක් පමණ අවසන් වී ඇති බවයි තාක්ෂණ නිළධාරියා කියා සිටියේ.

කොටගල දුම්රිය ස්ථානයේ සිට සේවා සැපයුම් දුම්රියක් මගින් ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සදහා අවශ්‍ය උපකරණ ප්‍රවාහනය කරන අතර, පවතින වර්ෂාපතනය අඩු වී වියලි කාලගුණ තත්වයක් පැවතිය හොත් කොටගල ග්‍රේග්ලි වතුයායේ දුම්රිය මාර්ගය අසළ නාය ගිය ස්ථානය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු මේ වසරේ සැප්තැම්බර් මාසය අවසන්වන විට අපේක්ෂා කරන බවයි ව්‍යාපෘති භාර පෞද්ගලික සමාගමේ තාක්ෂණික නිළධාරි අතුල විජේසිංහ මහතා වැඩි දුරටත් කියා සිටියේ.

Severe Weather Delays Railway Rehabilitation Efforts in Kotagala

The ongoing rehabilitation work on the railway line from Kotagala to Radella has faced significant setbacks due to adverse weather conditions, as reported by Athula Wijesinghe, a technical officer of the private company overseeing the project.

The project, aimed at minimizing the risk of landslides through stabilisation methods, is currently being implemented between two railway stations located in Kotagala and Talawakelle. The rehabilitation activities being carried out at the site where the railway line has collapsed will utilize recommendations from the National Building Research Organisation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

However, the unfavorable weather conditions have led to difficulties in sourcing black stones, which are essential for the project. Consequently, construction work has been adversely affected. According to the technical officer, about 60% of the project's work has been completed to date.

As efforts to transport necessary equipment for the rehabilitation works continue via a service train from the Kotagala station, it is anticipated that if the rainfall reduces and drier conditions prevail, the reconstruction activities near the collapsed section of the railway track at the Gregly estate in Kotagala will be completed by the end of September this year.

With the project facing delays, stakeholders remain hopeful for improved weather conditions to expedite the rehabilitation efforts.
