දිවයින පුරා රජයේ රෝහල්වල හදවත් සැත්කම් ඇතුළු ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ ශල්‍යකර්ම සහ පරීක්ෂණ බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් රෝගීන් 25,000කට අධික පිරිසක් පොරොත්තු ලේඛනවල රැඳී සිටින බව වෛද්‍ය හා සිවිල් අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය සමිති සන්ධානය පවසයි.

එහි සභාපති විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ, මෙම පොරොත්තු ලේඛනවල සිටින රෝගීන්ගේ සැත්කම් කඩිනම් කිරීම සඳහා ජනාධිපති අරමුදලෙන් ප්‍රතිපාදන වෙන් කරන බවට රජය ප්‍රකාශ කළද, එම වැඩපිළිවෙළ මෙතෙක් සක්‍රීයව ආරම්භ නොවීම කණගාටුවට කරුණක් බවයි.

අසරණ රෝගීන් වෙනුවෙන් ජනාධිපති අරමුදලෙන් වෙන් කරන මුදල ඉහළ නංවා, රජයේ රෝහල්වල පොරොත්තු ලේඛනවල සිටින රෝගීන්ට නියමිත ගාස්තුවලට යටත්ව පෞද්ගලික අංශයෙන් හෝ සැත්කම් කර ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව සලසා දිය යුතු බව ඔහු යෝජනා කරයි.

මීට අමතරව, අදාළ විෂයයන් පිළිබඳ විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍යවරුන් පුහුණු කිරීමේ ධාරිතාව වැඩිකිරීම, රෝහල් පහසුකම් දියුණු කිරීම සහ නවීන ශල්‍ය උපකරණ මෙන්ම පරීක්ෂණ උපකරණ මිලදී ගැනීම හරහා ඉදිරියේදී මෙම තදබදය අවම කර ගත හැකි බව ද වෛද්‍යවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

දැනට පවතින හදවත් සැත්කම් පොරොත්තු ලේඛනය 2029 වසර දක්වාම දිවෙන බවත්, වකුගඩු හා අනෙකුත් අවයව බද්ධ කිරීමේ සැත්කම් සඳහා දිනපතා රෝගීන් එක්වීම නිසා සමස්ත සෞඛ්‍ය පද්ධතියම දරාගත නොහැකි පීඩනයකට ලක්ව ඇති බවත් විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Over 25,000 Patients Waiting for Heart Surgeries in Sri Lanka

Across the nation, more than 25,000 patients are on waiting lists for major surgeries, including heart procedures, in government hospitals. This alarming figure has been highlighted by the Association of Medical Professionals focusing on medical and civil rights.

Dr. Chamath Sanjeeva, the president of the association, pointed out that while the government has announced allocations from the presidential fund to expedite surgeries for these patients, there has been a disheartening lack of progress in implementing these initiatives.

He advocates for an increase in funding allocated to the presidential fund, suggesting that patients on waiting lists should be given the opportunity to receive surgeries at private facilities, with costs covered under existing tariffs.

Without such measures, he warned that it would be challenging to raise the volume of surgeries performed daily by medical professionals and healthcare workers in government hospitals, despite the necessity for additional incentives.

Furthermore, Dr. Sanjeeva noted that enhancing the training capacity for specialists, improving hospital facilities, and purchasing modern surgical and diagnostic equipment could significantly alleviate the current backlog of surgeries in the future.

The existing waiting list for heart surgeries is expected to extend until 2029, exacerbated by the daily influx of patients requiring kidney and other organ transplantation surgeries, putting immense pressure on the entire healthcare system, he emphasized.
