ශ්රී ලංකා පාරිභෝගික සමුපකාර සමිති සංගමය (COOPFED), දේශීය කර්මාන්තකරුවා ශක්තිමත් කරමින් පාරිභෝගිකයාට සහනදායී මිලකට අත්යවශ්ය භාණ්ඩ සැපයීමේ අරමුණින් ලංකා සීනි සමාගම සහ BCC ලංකා සමාගම සමඟ විශේෂ අවබෝධතා ගිවිසුම් දෙකකට අත්සන් තබන ලදී. මෙය සමුපකාර ඉතිහාසයේ ඓතිහාසික පියවරක් ලෙස සනිටුහන් වන අතර, ඒ හරහා පාරිභෝගිකයාට ගුණාත්මක දේශීය නිෂ්පාදන සෘජුවම ලබා ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව සැලසේ.
මෙම නව වැඩපිළිවෙළ යටතේ ලංකා සීනි සමාගමෙන් මසකට දුඹුරු සීනි ටොන් 1000ක් ද, BCC ලංකා සමාගමෙන් ඇසුරම් කරන ලද පොල්තෙල් ලීටර් 20000ක් මෙන්ම සබන් ඇතුළු අනෙකුත් නිෂ්පාදන ද සමුපකාර ජාලය වෙත ලබා ගැනීමට නියමිතයි. මෙම නිෂ්පාදන පාරිභෝගික සමුපකාර 75ක නියෝජිතයින් හරහා තවත් ප්රාදේශික වෙළදසැල් 3500 ක් දක්වා විහිදී යන පුළුල් බෙදාහැරීමේ ජාලයක් ඔස්සේ ජනතාව වෙත ළඟා කිරීමට නියමිතයි.
අතරමැදියන් ඉවත් කරමින් වෙළඳපොළේ මිල පාලනය කිරීමටත්, "මිල තීරකයා" (Price Stabilizer) ලෙස කටයුතු කිරීමටත් මෙමඟින් සංගමය බලාපොරොත්තු වේ.
2029 වසර වන විට ප්රාදේශික වෙළදසැල් 3500 සිට 10 000 දක්වා වැඩි කරගැනීමේ ඉලක්කය සහිතව සංගමය කටයුතු කරමින් සිටියි. එමෙන්ම දේශීය නිෂ්පාදනවලට අමතරව ඉන්දියානු සමුපකාර සමිති සමඟ එක්ව ගුණාත්මක නිෂ්පාදන ආනයනය කර බෙදාහැරීමට ද පියවර ගෙන ඇත.
වසර ගණනාවක විශ්වසනීය ඉතිහාසයක් ඇති මෙම සංගමය, තිරසාර ව්යාපාරික සදාචාරයත් අනුගමනය කරමින් සාමාජිකයින්ගේ සහ පාරිභෝගිකයින්ගේ ආර්ථික තත්ත්වය උසස් කිරීමට කැපවී සිටියි. දේශීය නිෂ්පාදන ප්රවර්ධනය කරමින් සහ වෙළඳපොළ ඒකාධිකාරය බිඳ හෙළමින් ජනතාවට සහන සැලසීමට ඔවුන් ඉටුකරන සුවිශාල මෙහෙවර, වඩාත් යහපත් ලෝකයක් ගොඩනැගීමට සමුපකාර ව්යාපාරය දක්වන දායකත්වයට මනා නිදසුනකි.
මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ කර්මාන්ත සහ ව්යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්ය නියෝජ අමාත්යවරයා ප්රකාශ කළේ, ඇමෙරිකාව සහ යුරෝපය වැනි දියුණු රටවල පවා පස් දෙනෙකුගෙන් එක් අයෙකු පාරිභෝගික සමුපකාර සාමාජිකයෙකු වන බවත්, නිෂ්පාදකයාගේ සහ පාරිභෝගිකයාගේ කේවල් කිරීමේ හැකියාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට සමුපකාරය අත්යවශ්ය බවත් ය. දැනට ක්රියාත්මක මෙම සමුපකාර ශාඛා ජාලය තවදුරටත් වර්ධනය කරමින් මෙය සමස්ථ "පද්ධතියක්" (Ecosystem) ලෙස ගොඩනැගීමට රජය සැලසුම් කර ඇත.
මීට අමතරව, මුදල් හා වෙළඳ අමාත්යාංශ ඒකාබද්ධව සමුපකාර බැංකු පද්ධතිය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට පියවර ගනිමින් සිටින බවත්, එමඟින් සුළු හා මධ්ය පරිමාණ ව්යාපාරිකයින්ට සිය නිෂ්පාදන වෙළඳපොළට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට ශක්තිමත් වේදිකාවක් සැපයෙන බවත් අමාත්යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

Historic Agreements to Strengthen Local Industry and Consumer Access in Sri Lanka
The Sri Lanka Cooperative Societies Federation (COOPFED) has signed two significant memorandums of understanding with Lanka Sugar Company and BCC Lanka, aimed at empowering local producers while providing essential goods to consumers at affordable prices. This move is seen as a historic step in the federation's journey, facilitating direct access for consumers to high-quality local products.
Under the new initiative, the Lanka Sugar Company is set to supply 1,000 tons of brown sugar monthly, complemented by BCC Lanka, which will provide 20,000 liters of coconut oil along with other products, including soap. These goods will be distributed through a vast network, reaching consumers across approximately 3,500 regional retail outlets represented by 75 cooperative societies.
With the intention of reducing intermediaries and stabilizing market prices, COOPFED asserts its role as a "Price Stabilizer" in the market.
The federation is ambitiously looking to expand its network from 3,500 to 10,000 regional retail outlets by the year 2029. In addition to bolstering local production, it is also pursuing partnerships with Indian cooperative societies to import and distribute quality products.
With a long-standing reputation for reliability, the federation is dedicated to adhering to sustainable business ethics while enhancing the economic conditions of both its members and consumers. Its efforts to promote local products and break market monopolies serve as a strong example of how cooperative businesses can contribute to building a better world.
Chaturanga Abeysinghe, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, emphasized that being a member of a consumer cooperative is increasingly recognized even in developed nations like the United States and Europe. He noted the cooperative's critical role in strengthening the link between producers and consumers, and the government plans to develop the existing cooperative branch network into a comprehensive ecosystem.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance and Trade is actively working to strengthen the cooperative banking system, which will empower small and medium-sized enterprises to bring their products to market, as added by the Minister.
Key figures attending this milestone event included Deputy Minister Chaturanga Abeysinghe, COOPFED Chairman and Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Dr. Shanta Jayarathna, Chief Executive Officer Roshani Pradeepa, Chairman of BCC Lanka Prasanga Indrajith, and Chairman of Lanka Sugar Vasantha Athula Kumar as well as Director and Chief Executive Officer Dharmavardhana Udaya Kumar.
