සිද්ධිය වූ දින තමන් ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේ සිට ආරක්ෂක ලේකම්, පොලිස්පති සහ බුද්ධි අංශ ප්‍රධානීන් සමඟ එක්ව ඩ්‍රෝන තාක්ෂණය ඔස්සේ තත්ත්වය නිරීක්ෂණය කරමින් අවශ්‍ය උපදෙස් ලබා දුන් බව ඔහු මෙහිදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

රැඳවියන් දෙදෙනෙකු මියයාම පිළිබඳව තොරතුරු ලැබීම ප්‍රමාද වීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා කියා සිටියේ, වැඩබලන බන්ධනාගාර කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල්වරයා ලබා දුන් තොරතුරු මත පදනම්ව තමන් මුලින් ප්‍රකාශ නිකුත් කළ බවයි.

එම අවස්ථාවේදී වාර්තා වී තිබුණේ තුවාල ලැබූවන් පිළිබඳව පමණක් බවත්, මරණ පිළිබඳ නිශ්චිත තොරතුරු තමන් වෙත ලැබුණේ පසුව බවත් ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

තමන් එම අවස්ථාවේ "බීලා බුදියගෙන සිටි" බවට ඇතැම් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් එල්ල කරන චෝදනා ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ අමාත්‍යවරයා, තමන් මුළු රාත්‍රිය පුරාම සිද්ධිය සමනය කිරීමට වෙහෙස වූ බව අවධාරණය කළේය.

Minister Confirms Intervention to Manage Unrest at Meeghavula Prison

The Minister of Justice, Harshana Nanayakkara, has confirmed his active involvement in managing the chaotic situation at the Meeghavula Prison. He explained that the delay in receiving information was due to the intense pressure and danger faced by officials within the facility.

This revelation came during his appearance on the popular television program "Derana 360."

On the day of the incident, the minister stated that he was observing the situation using drone technology while collaborating with the Secretary to the President, the Inspector General of Police, and heads of intelligence units to provide necessary directives.

He emphasized that even senior officials within the prison were unable to answer phone calls due to the overwhelming level of turmoil, and some records were damaged by fire, contributing to delays in obtaining accurate information.

Addressing the delays in confirming the deaths of two inmates, the minister pointed out that his initial statements were based on information received from the working General Prison Commissioner.

At that time, only reports regarding injuries had been received, and precise information concerning the fatalities came later, he noted.

Responding to allegations from some parliamentarians that he was "out of touch" during the crisis, the minister denied the claims, asserting that he had dedicated the entire night to resolving the situation.

He further described the events at the Meeghavula Prison as extremely serious, emphasizing that the government made every effort to restore order.
