පාර්ලිමේන්තු නිලධාරීන්ගේ වාහන සහ ඉන්ධන භාවිතය සම්බන්ධයෙන් නිකුත් වූ විශේෂ විගණන වාර්තාවේ අන්තර්ගත දත්ත, ඇතැම් පිරිස් විසින් දේශපාලන අරමුණු වෙනුවෙන් විකෘති කරමින් සමාජගත කරන බව හිටපු කථානායක මහින්ද යාපා අබේවර්ධන මහතා චෝදනා කරයි.

විශේෂ මාධ්‍ය නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කරමින් ඒ මහතා කියා සිටියේ, 2015 සිට 2024 දක්වා කාලය තුළ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ විවිධ තනතුරු දැරූ පුද්ගලයන්ගේ වාහන භාවිතය පිළිබඳව ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති නිරීක්ෂණ සම්බන්ධයෙන් මහජනතාව තුළ වැරදි අවබෝධයක් ඇති කිරීමට ඇතැම් පාර්ශව උත්සාහ දරන බවයි.

තමන් කථානායක ධුරය දැරූ සමයේ වාහන නවයක් භාවිතා කළ බවට එල්ල වන චෝදනා සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම අසත්‍ය බවත්, තමන් භාවිතා කළේ පාර්ලිමේන්තුව මගින් නිල වශයෙන් ලබාදුන් වාහන පමණක් බවත් විගණන වාර්තාව මගින්ම තහවුරු වී ඇති බව ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි.

එම වාහන සියල්ල ජනාධිපති ලේකම්වරයාගේ චක්‍රලේඛ සහ රාජ්‍ය ප්‍රතිපාදනවලට අනුකූලව ආරක්ෂක අවශ්‍යතා වෙනුවෙන් ලබාදුන් ඒවා බව හිටපු කථානායකවරයා අවධාරණය කරයි.

2023 සහ 2024 වසරවල ඉන්ධන භාවිතය ඉහළ යාම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වන අබේවර්ධන මහතා, එය "අධික පුද්ගලික ඉන්ධන භාවිතයක්" ලෙස අර්ථ දැක්වීම සත්‍ය විකෘති කිරීමක් බව සඳහන් කරයි.

2022 ජූලි මාසයෙන් පසු රටේ පැවති සුවිශේෂී ආරක්ෂක තත්ත්වය හමුවේ, කථානායකවරයාගේ ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා අතිරේක භට පිරිස් සහ ආරක්ෂක රථ යෙදවීමට සිදු වූ බව ඔහු පවසයි.

විශේෂයෙන්ම ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශයේ නිර්දේශ මත ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයෙන් ලබාදුන්, ඉන්ධන පරිභෝජනය ඉතා අධික වෙඩි නොවදින (Bulletproof) රථයක් භාවිත කිරීමට සිදු වීම මෙම ඉන්ධන පිරිවැය ඉහළ යාමට ප්‍රධාන හේතුවක් වූ බව ඔහු අනාවරණය කළේය.

රටේ තෙවැනි පුරවැසියා ලෙස දිවයින පුරා සිදු කළ නිල සංචාරයන් සහ ආරක්ෂක රථ පෙළපාලි සඳහා වැය වූ ඉන්ධන ප්‍රමාණය, සාමාන්‍ය පුද්ගලයෙකුගේ පුද්ගලික වාහන භාවිතය සමඟ සැසඳීම අවිද්‍යාත්මක බව ද ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි.

රටේ ඉන්ධන පෝලිම් පැවති සමයේ තමන් මෙලෙස අධික ලෙස ඉන්ධන භාවිතා කළ බවට එල්ල වන චෝදනා දත්ත සහිතව ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරන හිටපු කථානායකවරයා, 2022 අගෝස්තු මාසයේදී QR ක්‍රමය හඳුන්වා දීමත් සමඟ ඉන්ධන පෝලිම් අවසන් වූ බව සිහිපත් කරයි. තමන්ට අදාළ ඉන්ධන භාවිතය ඉහළ ගොස් ඇත්තේ ඉන් පසුව එළඹි 2023 සහ 2024 වසරවලදී බවත්, එය පෝලිම් යුගය සමඟ පටලවා ගැනීම මහජනතාව කුපිත කරවීමේ පහත් දේශපාලන උත්සාහයක් බවත් ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

යම් අක්‍රමිකතාවක් සිදුවී ඇති බවට සාක්ෂි ඇත්නම් ඒ පිළිබඳව නීතිමය පියවර ගැනීමට තමන්ගේ කිසිදු විරෝධයක් නොමැති බව පවසන මහින්ද යාපා අබේවර්ධන මහතා, පටු දේශපාලන අරමුණු වෙනුවෙන් අර්ධ දත්ත භාවිතා කරමින් සත්‍යය විකෘති නොකරන ලෙස සියලු පාර්ශවයන්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

සියලු වාහන ධාවන සටහන් සහ ඉන්ධන ලබාගත් වාර්තා පාර්ලිමේන්තුව සතුව පවතින බැවින් ඕනෑම අයෙකුට සත්‍ය තත්ත්වය පරීක්ෂා කළ හැකි බව ද ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

Former Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena Denounces Misrepresentation of Parliamentary Vehicle and Fuel Use

Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, the former Speaker of the Parliament, has raised concerns over the misleading portrayal of data regarding the vehicle and fuel usage of parliamentary officials. He claims that certain factions are distorting this information for political gain.

In a special media statement, Abeywardena emphasized that there is an effort by some parties to create misconceptions among the public about the observations presented concerning the vehicle usage of individuals holding various positions in Parliament from 2015 to 2024.

Responding to allegations regarding the use of new vehicles during his tenure, he firmly stated these claims are entirely false, asserting that he utilized only the vehicles officially allocated by the Parliament, as confirmed by the audit report.

Abeywardena further clarified that all such vehicles were provided in accordance with security requirements based on directives from the Presidential Secretary's office.

On the rising fuel consumption in 2023 and 2024, he characterized the narrative of excessive personal fuel use as a gross distortion of the truth. He noted that, following July 2022, due to a unique security situation in the country, additional security personnel and vehicles were deployed for his protection.

The former Speaker revealed that, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Defence, he was required to use a bulletproof vehicle, which significantly contributed to the increased fuel expenses.

He argued that comparing the fuel consumption incurred during official state visits and security operations to that of an average individual's private vehicle use is misleading.

Rejecting accusations of excessive fuel consumption during a time when the country experienced fuel shortages, he reiterated that such claims are baseless. He recalled that the fuel crisis ended with the introduction of the QR system in August 2022 and pointed out that the spike in his fuel usage occurred subsequently in 2023 and 2024, branding the attempts to politicize this issue as a mischief aimed at stirring public discontent.

Abeywardena stated he has no objection to legal action if credible evidence of wrongdoing arises, urging all parties to refrain from distorting the truth through selective data for political ends.

He emphasized that all vehicle usage logs and fuel acquisition records are retained by Parliament, allowing anyone to verify the actual situation.
