අධිකරණ ක්‍රියාවලිය කඩිනම් කරන බවට රජය පවසන ප්‍රකාශ හුදු බොරු පොරොන්දු පමණක් බවත්, මෙලෙස දිගින් දිගටම ජනතාව මුළා කළහොත් වත්මන් පාලනයට ද ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ රජයට අත් වූ ඉරණමම අත්වනු ඇති බවත් හිටපු අමාත්‍ය චන්දිම වීරක්කොඩි මහතා පවසයි.

වීරක්කොඩි මහතා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, නඩු විභාග කඩිනම් කිරීමට නම් ප්‍රථමයෙන් පොලිස් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ අධිකරණ පද්ධතියේ පවතින දැඩි නිලධාරී හිඟය පියවීමට රජය පියවර ගත යුතු බවයි. පොලිස් සේවය සඳහා නිලධාරීන් එක්ලක්ෂ දෙදහසක් (102,000) අවශ්‍ය වුවද දැනට සේවයේ යෙදී සිටින්නේ හැට අටදහසක් (68,000) වැනි සුළු පිරිසක් බවත්, උප පොලිස් පරීක්ෂකවරුන් සිය දෙනෙකු පත් කරන බවට දුන් පොරොන්දු ද මෙතෙක් ඉටු කර නොමැති බවත් ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

නීතිපති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පවතින පුරප්පාඩු පිළිබඳව ද අදහස් දැක්වූ හිටපු අමාත්‍යවරයා, ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ අතිරේක සොලිසිටර් ජනරාල්වරුන් ඇතුළු පළපුරුදු නිලධාරීන් විශ්‍රාම යාමට පෙර ඉල්ලා අස්වීමේ ලිපි ලබා දී ඇති බවත්, එම පුරප්පාඩු පිරවීමට රජය අපොහොසත් වී ඇති බවත් පැවසීය.

එමෙන්ම පසුගිය වසර දෙකක කාලය තුළ මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරුන් ලෙස පත් කර ඇත්තේ 33 දෙනෙකු පමණක් බව පෙන්වා දුන් ඔහු, මහාධිකරණ සහ දිස්ත්‍රික් අධිකරණවල ද පවතින්නේ මෙවැනිම මන්දගාමී තත්ත්වයක් බව අවධාරණය කළේය.

විශේෂයෙන්ම ඉඩම් නඩු වසර ගණනාවක් ප්‍රමාද වීමට මිනින්දෝරු හිඟය ප්‍රධාන හේතුවක් වී ඇති බවත්, මිනින්දෝරු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පවතින ගැටලු විසඳීමට රජය මෙතෙක් කිසිදු සාකච්ඡාවක් හෝ පවත්වා නොමැති බවත් ඔහු චෝදනා කළේය.

ජනාධිපතිවරයා ඇතුළු ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂය සත්‍ය තත්ත්වය වසන් කරමින් ජනතාවට බොරු පවසන බවත්, බොරුවෙන් රට පාලනය කිරීමට උත්සාහ කළ සෑම පාලකයෙකුටම අවසානයේ ජනතාවගෙන් ප්‍රතික්ෂේප වීමට සිදු වූ බවත් චන්දිම වීරක්කොඩි මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

Former Minister Chandima Weerakkody Critiques Government's Judicial Reform Promises

The government's claims of expediting legal proceedings have been labelled as empty promises by former Minister Chandima Weerakkody, who warns that if the current administration continues to deceive the public, it may face a fate similar to that of Gotabaya Rajapaksa's regime.

Weerakkody emphasized that for any meaningful acceleration of court cases, immediate action is required to address the severe shortage of personnel within both the police department and the judicial system. Highlighting that the police service needs 102,000 officers, he pointed out that only around 68,000 are currently serving, adding that commitments to hire additional assistant superintendents of police remain unfulfilled.

Speaking on the vacancies within the Attorney General's Department, the former minister noted that experienced officials, including senior additional solicitors general, have submitted their resignations prior to retirement, indicating the government's failure to fill these critical positions.

He further indicated that only 33 individuals have been appointed as magistrates over the past two years, stressing that similar sluggish conditions persist within both the High Court and district courts.

With land cases reportedly delayed for years, Weerakkody cited the shortage of judicial officers as a major contributing factor, accusing the government of failing to engage in discussions to resolve issues affecting the judicial sector.

He condemned the ruling party, including the president, for misrepresenting the actual state of affairs to the public, asserting that any leader attempting to govern through deceit ultimately faces rejection from the citizens.
