 ලෝකයේ පවතින යුදමය වාතාවරණය අවසන් වනතුරු මෙරට වාහන මිලෙහි අඩුවීමක් අපේක්ෂා කළ නොහැකි බව ලංකා වාහන ආනයනකරුවන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති ඉන්දික සම්පත් මෙරංචිගේ මහතා පවසයි.

ඔහු මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ රජය විසින් වාහන ආනයනය මත පනවා ඇති අධිභාර බද්ද තවදුරටත් දීර්ඝ කිරීමට ගෙන ඇති තීරණය සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වමිනි.

පසුගිය මැයි 15 වනදා මාස තුනක කාලයක් සඳහා පැනවූ මෙම අධිභාර බද්ද, නව ගැසට් නිවේදනයක් මගින් එළඹෙන දෙසැම්බර් 31 වනදා දක්වා දීර්ඝ කිරීමට රජය පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

මේ හේතුවෙන් අගෝස්තු 15 වනදායින් පසු වාහන මිල අඩු වනු ඇතැයි පාරිභෝගිකයන් තුළ පැවති බලාපොරොත්තු සුන් වී ඇති බව ද ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

මෙම බදු සංශෝධනයත් සමඟ වෙළඳපොළේ ජනප්‍රිය වාහන මාදිලි කිහිපයක මිල ගණන් ඉහළ යන ආකාරය මෙරංචිගේ මහතා මෙලෙස පැහැදිලි කළේය.

Yaris රථයක්: රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 11 - 12 කින්, ඇක්සියෝ (Axio) රථයක් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 12 - 13 කින්, ඇල්ටෝ (Alto) සහ ඩේස් (Dais) වැනි කුඩා මෝටර් රථ රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 05 - 07 කින්, රේස් (Raize) රථයක් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 15 - 15.5 කින්, එස්-ප්‍රෙසෝ (S-Presso) රථයක් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 22.5 කින් පමණ මිල ඉහළ යා හැකි බව ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය.

පවතින යුදමය තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් ඉන්ධන මිල ඉහළ යාම සහ රජයට අවශ්‍ය ආදායම් උපයා ගැනීම සඳහා මෙවැනි බදු පැනවීමට සිදුව ඇති බවත්, වාහන ආනයනය හරහා රජයට විශාල බදු ආදායමක් මෙන්ම විදේශයන්හි වෙසෙන ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් හරහා මෙරටට විදේශ විනිමය ද ගලා එන බව ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Expected Vehicle Prices to Remain High Amid Ongoing Global Conflict

Indika Sampath Meerenchige, the President of the Association of Sri Lankan Vehicle Importers, has indicated that a reduction in vehicle prices is unlikely until the prevailing global military tensions come to an end.

His remarks came in response to the government's recent decision to extend the existing exorbitant import tax on vehicles, a move aimed at generating necessary revenue amid current economic challenges.

Originally imposed on May 15 for a three-month period, the high import tax has now been officially prolonged until December 31, according to a new gazette notification from the government.

This extension has dampened consumer expectations, which had anticipated a price drop on vehicles after August 15. Meerenchige pointed out that this tax adjustment is expected to lead to price increases for several popular vehicle models in the market.

For instance, he noted that pricing for a Yaris might rise between 1.1 to 1.2 million rupees, while the price for an Axio could increase to between 1.2 to 1.3 million rupees. Smaller vehicles such as the Alto and Dais may see their prices climb to approximately 500,000 to 700,000 rupees, while a Raize could escalate to about 1.5 million rupees, and an S-Presso might reach 2.25 million rupees.

Meerenchige further emphasized that the ongoing conflict globally is contributing to rising fuel prices and has necessitated the imposition of such taxes. He also highlighted the significant tax revenue generated from vehicle imports, which plays a vital role in the country’s economy along with foreign remittances from Sri Lankans living abroad.
