අර්ථවත් දේශපාලන සහ ව්‍යවස්ථාපිත වෙනසක් සිදු කිරීම සඳහා අවදානම් ගැනීමට තමන් සූදානම් බවත්, එම ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ ක්‍රියාවලියේදී එල්ල වන ඕනෑම ප්‍රතිවිපාකයකට මුහුණ දීමට තමන් පසුබට නොවන බවත් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා අවධාරණය කළේය.

ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකා නීතිඥ සංගමයේ (BASL) නියෝජිත පිරිසක් සමඟ පැවති සාකච්ඡාවකදී ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය. 

රජය විසින් යෝජනා කර ඇති 22 වන ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය පිළිබඳව මෙහිදී දෙපාර්ශවය අතර දීර්ඝ ලෙස අදහස් හුවමාරු විය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, මෙම සාකච්ඡාව කිසිදු එකඟතාවයකින් තොරව අවසන් වූ බව වාර්තා වේ.

ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණ සහ අභියාචනාධිකරණ විනිසුරුවන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස ඉහළ නැංවීමට අදාළ යෝජනාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් නීතිඥ සංගමය සිය දැඩි විරෝධය මෙහිදීත් ප්‍රකාශ කර ඇත. 

නීතිඥ සංගමයේ සභාපති රජීව් අමරසූරිය මහතා ඇතුළු හිටපු සභාපතිවරුන්, ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ විද්වතුන් සහ ජනාධිපති නීතිඥවරුන් පෙන්වා දුන්නේ මෙම යෝජිත සංශෝධනය මගින් අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වයට බරපතළ හානි සිදුවිය හැකි බවයි. 

එබැවින් මෙම ක්‍රියාවලිය වහාම නතර කර, නීති ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ ප්‍රවීණයන් සමඟ පුළුල් සාකච්ඡාවකින් පසුව ඉදිරි පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස ඔවුහු ජනාධිපතිවරයාගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියහ.

ඊට ප්‍රතිචාර දක්වමින් ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා කියා සිටියේ, මෙම සංශෝධනය කිසිදු පුද්ගලයෙකු ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් හෝ කිසිවෙකුට පෞද්ගලිකව වාසි සැලසීමේ අරමුණින් ගෙන ආවක් නොවන බවයි. තමන්ට විධායක බලතල ඉක්මවා යාමේ කිසිදු අභිලාෂයක් නොමැති බවත්, පවතින ව්‍යවස්ථාපිත රාමුව තුළ පමණක් රාජ්‍ය බලය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බවත් ඔහු සහතික විය.

දේශපාලන වෙනසක් වෙනුවෙන් තමන් සතු කැපවීම අවධාරණය කළ ජනාධිපතිවරයා, "මම ඕනෑම වෙලාවක යන්න ලෑස්ති පුද්ගලයෙක්. මම මෙතනට ආවේ පුටුවේ වාඩි වෙලා ඉන්න බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් නෙවෙයි," යනුවෙන් පවසා සිටියේය.

අවශ්‍ය වෙනස්කම් සිදු කිරීමේදී තමන් අවදානම් ගැනීමට සූදානම් බවට උදාහරණයක් ලෙස පාස්කු ඉරිදා ප්‍රහාරය පිළිබඳව දැනට ක්‍රියාත්මක විමර්ශන පිළිබඳව ද ඔහු මෙහිදී සිහිපත් කළේය. 

එම විමර්ශන සඳහා සිය ආරක්ෂාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් වගකියන බුද්ධි අංශ පවා සම්බන්ධ වී ඇති නමුත්, සත්‍යය හෙළි කිරීමේ ගමනින් තමන්ව වැළැක්වීමට එය බාධාවක් නොවන බව ජනාධිපතිවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Emphasizes Commitment to Meaningful Political Reform

In a recent discussion with a delegation from the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) at the Presidential Secretariat, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake reaffirmed his readiness to take risks for significant political and constitutional changes. He emphasized that he will not shy away from facing any repercussions that may arise during the reform process.

The conversation covered the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, where a comprehensive exchange of views took place between both parties. However, reports indicate that the meeting concluded without reaching any consensus.

The BASL expressed strong opposition regarding the proposal to raise the retirement age for Supreme Court and Appeals Court judges. Prominent legal figures, including BASL President Rajeev Amarasuriya, past presidents, and senior jurists, warned that the proposed amendment could severely compromise judicial independence. They urged the President to halt the process immediately and engage in extensive discussions with experts in the legal field before proceeding with any steps.

In response, President Dissanayake reiterated that the amendment was not intended to target any individual or serve private interests. He assured that he has no desire to exceed executive authority and operates strictly within the existing constitutional framework.

Highlighting his commitment to political change, Dissanayake stated, "I am ready to step down at any moment. I did not come here with the expectation of holding onto my position." He referenced the ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks as an example of his willingness to embrace necessary changes, noting that while his security details are involved, he will not let that hinder his pursuit of truth.
