කුරුවිට බන්ධනාගාරයේ පසුගියදා ඇති වූ නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය අතරතුර මියගිය රැඳවියන් දෙදෙනාගේ මරණයට හේතුව වෙඩි වැදීමෙන් සිදු වූ බරපතළ තුවාල බව පශ්චාත් මරණ පරීක්ෂණයේදී අනාවරණය වී තිබේ.
රත්නපුර මහ රෝහලේදී මරණ පරීක්ෂණ වාර්තාවට අනුව, එක් රැඳවියකුගේ හිසට වෙඩි වැදී ඇති අතර අනෙක් රැඳවියාගේ පපුවට වෙඩි වැදීමෙන් මරණය සිදුව ඇත.
මෙම නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් රැඳවියන් දෙදෙනෙකු මියගොස් තවත් 12 දෙනෙකු තුවාල ලැබූහ.
බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ ඇති වූ එම තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා කඳුළු ගෑස් ප්රහාර සහ වෙඩි තැබීම් සිදු කිරීමට සිදු වූ බව විෂය භාර අමාත්ය නීතිඥ හර්ෂණ නානායක්කාර මහතා ප්රකාශ කර ඇත.
තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා පොලිසියට අමතරව පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකාය (STF), කැරලි මර්දන ඒකකය සහ යුද හමුදාව ද කැඳවීමට පියවර ගෙන තිබුණි.
මීට පෙර ද මීගමුව, මහර, නව මැගසින් සහ පල්ලන්සේන යන බන්ධනාගාරවල මෙවැනි නොසන්සුන්තා වාර්තා වී තිබිණි.
Gunfire Incident in Kuruwita Prison Leads to Two Deaths
Tragic revelations have emerged following a violent outbreak at the Kuruwita Prison, where two inmates lost their lives due to severe gunshot injuries. A post-mortem examination has confirmed that one inmate sustained a gunshot wound to the head, while the other succumbed to injuries from a shot to the abdomen.
The unrest resulted in the fatalities of these two individuals, alongside injuries to an additional twelve inmates during the chaotic incident.
To regain control of the situation, law enforcement officials resorted to firing tear gas and employing live ammunition, as stated by the Minister of Justice, Harshana Nanayakkara.
In response to the disturbances, police forces, including the Special Task Force (STF), riot control units, and military personnel, were deployed to manage the crisis.
This incident is part of a concerning trend, as similar unrest has been reported previously in prisons across the country, including those in Meegamuwa, Maharagama, New Magazine, and Pallansena.
