නව සැපයුම්කරුවෙකු හරහා අංක තහඩු මුද්රණය කිරීමේ කටයුතු පසුගිය ජුනි මස 10 වැනිදා සිට යළි ආරම්භ කර ඇත.
මේ වන විට පවතින විශාල ඇණවුම් ප්රමාණය කඩිනමින් මුද්රණය කර අවසන් කිරීමට පියවර ගනිමින් සිටින අතර, අංක තහඩු බෙදාහැරීමේ ක්රියාවලිය මේ වන විට ක්රමයෙන් යථා තත්ත්වයට පත්වෙමින් පවතින බව එම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සඳහන් කරයි.
මීට අමතරව, නව පිරිවිතරයන්ට අනුව විදුලි වාහන සඳහා කොළ පැහැති පසුබිමක සුදු පැහැති අක්ෂර සහිත අංක තහඩුද, ගරාජ් අංක තහඩු සඳහා තැඹිලි පැහැති පසුබිමක සුදු පැහැති අක්ෂර සහිත අංක තහඩුද හඳුන්වා දීමට නියමිතය.
අදාළ සංශෝධිත ගැසට් නිවේදනය නිකුත් කර මෙම නව ක්රමවේදයන් සම්පූර්ණයෙන් යාවත්කාලීන වන තෙක්, අංක තහඩු සම්බන්ධ ගැටලුවලදී වාහන හිමියන් පීඩාවට පත් නොවන පරිදි කටයුතු කරන ලෙස මෝටර් රථ ප්රවාහන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කර සිටියි.
Motor Vehicle Department Urges Consideration for Vehicle Owners Amid Delays in Number Plate Issuance
In response to ongoing delays in the issuance of new vehicle number plates, the Motor Vehicle Department has advised relevant authorities to ensure that legal actions against vehicle owners without proper registration plates are conducted with due consideration, avoiding unnecessary hardships for them.
The process of printing number plates resumed on June 10 with the appointment of a new supplier. The department is currently working diligently to finish processing the substantial backlog of orders and has reported that the distribution process is gradually returning to normal.
Additionally, in line with new guidelines, number plates for electric vehicles will feature white letters on a green background, while garage registration plates will have white letters on an orange background. These new formats are set to be introduced soon.
The Motor Vehicle Department emphasized that until the updated procedures are fully implemented following the release of the relevant amended gazette notification, it remains crucial to handle number plate-related issues in a manner that does not burden vehicle owners.
