වෛද්‍ය නිලධාරීන් සඳහා ‘අතරමැදි ශ්‍රේණියක්’ (Intermediate cadre) ඇති කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් විධිමත් අධ්‍යයනයක් සිදු කර නිර්දේශ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම සඳහා සය පුද්ගල විශේෂ කමිටුවක් පත් කිරීමට සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය වෛද්‍ය නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මහතා පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

අමාත්‍යවරයා විසින් මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් අවශ්‍ය උපදෙස් අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම් වෛද්‍ය අනිල් ජාසිංහ මහතා වෙත ලබා දී ඇත.

සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය වෛද්‍ය හසංක විජේමුණි මහතාගේ සභාපතිත්වයෙන් යුත් මෙම කමිටුව මගින් අදාළ අතරමැදි ශ්‍රේණිය නිර්වචනය කිරීම, ඊට ඇතුළත් විය යුතු වෛද්‍ය විශේෂඥතා ක්ෂේත්‍ර හඳුනා ගැනීම සහ වෛද්‍ය නිලධාරීන් එම ශ්‍රේණියට තෝරා ගැනීමේ පටිපාටිය සකස් කිරීම සිදු කරනු ලබයි.

මීට අමතරව, එම ශ්‍රේණියේ සේවය කළ යුතු කාලසීමාව, ඔවුන්ට හිමිවන වරප්‍රසාද සහ ස්ථාන මාරු ක්‍රියාවලිය පිළිබඳව ද කමිටුව විසින් පුළුල් ලෙස අධ්‍යයනය කිරීමට නියමිතය.

අදාළ වෘත්තීය විද්වත් ආයතන සහ අනෙකුත් පාර්ශ්වකරුවන්ගේ අදහස් හා යෝජනා සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් මාසයක් ඇතුළත සිය නිර්දේශ අමාත්‍යාංශය වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලෙස අමාත්‍යවරයා කමිටුවට දැනුම් දී තිබේ.

මෙම කමිටුවේ ලේකම්වරයා ලෙස සැලසුම් අංශයේ ප්‍රජා වෛද්‍ය විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය අමිල සුරංග මහතා කටයුතු කරන අතර, සෙසු සාමාජිකයන් ලෙස අතිරේක ලේකම් (වෛද්‍ය සේවා) වෛද්‍ය ඩබ්. කේ. වික්‍රමසිංහ, ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ මහාචාර්ය හේනරත් එච්. ඩී. එන්. පී. ඕපාත, පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ මහාචාර්ය දිලීප් ද සිල්වා සහ නියෝජ්‍ය සෞඛ්‍ය සේවා අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල් (වෛද්‍ය සේවා II) වෛද්‍ය සමින්දි සමරකෝන් යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන් පත් කර ඇත.

Government Forms Committee to Establish Intermediate Cadre for Medical Officers

In a significant move aimed at enhancing the structure of the health sector, Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has announced the formation of a special seven-member committee to study and propose recommendations for the establishment of an 'intermediate cadre' for medical officers.

Minister Jayatissa has already provided the necessary guidelines to the Ministry Secretary, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, to facilitate this initiative.

Chaired by Deputy Health and Media Minister Dr. Hasanka Wijemuni, the committee will define the parameters of the proposed intermediate cadre, identify the medical specialties to be included, and establish criteria for selecting medical officers to this new category.

The committee will also conduct a comprehensive examination of the duration of service required in this cadre, the benefits and allowances that should be afforded to its members, and the processes governing their transfer.

In line with the minister's directive, the committee is tasked to submit its recommendations to the ministry within one month, taking into account the views and suggestions from relevant professional bodies and other stakeholders.

Dr. Amila Suranga from the Planning Division has been appointed as the committee’s secretary, with other members including Additional Secretary (Medical Services) Dr. D.K. Vikramasinghe, Senior Professor H.D.N.P. Opath from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Senior Professor Dilip de Silva from the University of Peradeniya, and Deputy Director General of Health Services II Dr. Sameendi Samarakoon.
