EPF-ETF වෙනුවට විශ‍්‍රාම වැටුපක්...

සේවක අර්ථසාධක අරමුදල (EPF) සහ සේවක භාරකාර අරමුදල (ETF) ඒකාබද්ධ කිරීමට රජය ගෙන ඇති තීරණයට සහ EPF පනත සංශෝධනය කිරීමට එරෙහිව පෞද්ගලික සේවක මධ්‍යස්ථානය සිය දැඩි විරෝධය පළ කර සිටියි.

එම මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ නියෝජිත පිරිසක් මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් කම්කරු අමාත්‍යවරයා වෙත සංදේශයක් භාර දීම සඳහා නාරාහේන්පිට පිහිටි කම්කරු අමාත්‍යාංශය වෙත පැමිණියහ.

මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ එම මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ ලේකම් දුමින්ද නාගමුව මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, වයස අවුරුදු 55 සම්පූර්ණ වූ පසු සේවකයින්ට ලැබෙන විශාල මුදල වෙනුවට එය මාසික විශ්‍රාම වැටුපක් ලෙස ලබා දීමට රජය සාකච්ඡා කරමින් සිටින බවයි. 

මෙය කම්කරු ජනතාවගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් උල්ලංඝනය කිරීමක් බව ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

පසුගිය ජුනි මාසයේ සිට EPF සහ ETF අරමුදල් ඒකාබද්ධ කර ත්‍රිපාර්ශ්වීය පාලන ව්‍යුහයක් යටතට පත් කිරීමට රජය උත්සාහ කරන බවත්, ශ්‍රී ලංකාව අත්සන් කර ඇති ජාත්‍යන්තර සම්මුතීන් අනුව එවැනි ක්‍රියාවලියකට රජය නීත්‍යානුකූලව බැඳී නොමැති බවත් නියෝජිතයෝ පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

වත්මන් රජය කම්කරු ජනතාව පාවා දෙමින් මෙම අරමුදල් කොල්ලකෑමට උත්සාහ කරන බවට චෝදනා කළ නාගමුව මහතා, මීට පෙර රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහ මහතා විසින් ඉදිරිපත් කළ ප්‍රතිපත්තිම අද ක්‍රියාත්මක වන බව පැවසීය.

මෙම තීරණයට එරෙහිව වීදි බැස සටන් කිරීමට සූදානම් වන ලෙස ඔහු සමස්ත වැඩකරන ජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියේය.

Private Sector Unions Challenge Government's Decision on EPF and ETF Merger

The government's recent decision to merge the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employees' Trust Fund (ETF) has sparked significant backlash from the private sector unions. They are staunchly opposed to proposed amendments to the EPF Act, claiming it undermines workers' rights.

A delegation from the unions visited the Ministry of Labour in Narahenpita to deliver a message to the Labour Minister regarding their concerns. During this visit, Duminda Nagamuwa, the Secretary of the union, emphasized that the government is discussing providing a monthly pension instead of a lump sum payment to employees once they reach the age of 55.

Nagamuwa stressed that such a move constitutes a violation of the rights of the working class. He outlined that since June, the government has been attempting to consolidate the EPF and ETF funds under a tripartite governance structure, an initiative that has been deemed unlawful under international agreements that Sri Lanka is a signatory to.

Criticizing the current government, Nagamuwa accused it of attempting to plunder these funds while neglecting the interests of workers. He pointed out that the policies introduced previously by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe are now being implemented.

In a call to action for all workers, he urged them to prepare for street protests against this decision, highlighting the urgency of the situation for the labor community.
