Google Drive, Google Photo Backup තවතා දමයි..

ගූගල් ඩ්‍රයිව් (Google Drive) හරහා ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් (Google Photos) වෙත ස්වයංක්‍රීයව ඡායාරූප සහ වීඩියෝ බැකප් (Backup) කිරීමේ පහසුකම 2026 අගෝස්තු 10 වැනිදා සිට නතර කිරීමට ගූගල් සමාගම තීරණය කර තිබේ.

බැකප් මෙවලම් සරල කිරීමේ සහ ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් මෘදුකාංගය හරහාම ඡායාරූප කළමනාකරණය කෙරෙහි වැඩි අවධානයක් යොමු කිරීමේ අරමුණින් මෙම පියවර ගත් බව එම සමාගම තහවුරු කරයි.

මෙම වෙනසත් සමඟ, තම පරිගණකයේ ඇති ෆෝල්ඩර ගූගල් ඩ්‍රයිව් මෘදුකාංගය මගින් සමමුහුර්ත (Sync) කර ස්වයංක්‍රීයව ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් වෙත යොමු කළ පරිශීලකයින්ට එම පහසුකම තවදුරටත් හිමි නොවේ. "ගූගල් ඩ්‍රයිව් පරිගණක මෘදුකාංගය 2026 අගෝස්තු 10 වැනිදායින් පසු ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් බැකප් සඳහා සහය නොදක්වයි. ඉන් පසුවත් ඡායාරූප බැකප් කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය නම්, ගූගල් ඩ්‍රයිව් හි ඇති ඡායාරූප සහ වීඩියෝ සෘජුවම ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් වෙත එක් කළ යුතුය," යනුවෙන් ගූගල් සමාගම නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කරමින් පවසා සිටියි.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, මෙමගින් ගූගල් ඩ්‍රයිව් හෝ ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් සේවාවන් අත්හිටුවීමක් සිදු නොවන අතර, සාමාන්‍ය ගොනු සමමුහුර්ත කිරීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය පෙර පරිදිම සිදුවනු ඇත.

මෙහිදී ඉවත් කෙරෙන්නේ ඩ්‍රයිව් මෘදුකාංගය සහ ෆොටෝස් සේවාව අතර පැවති ස්වයංක්‍රීය සබඳතාව පමණි. එමෙන්ම, මේ දක්වා එම ක්‍රමය හරහා බැකප් කර ඇති ඡායාරූප සහ වීඩියෝවලට කිසිදු බලපෑමක් සිදු නොවන බව ද සමාගම අවධාරණය කරයි.

මෙහි ඇති එක් අවාසියක් වන්නේ, පෙර පැවති ක්‍රමය මෙන් පසුබිමින් ස්වයංක්‍රීයව ක්‍රියාත්මක නොවී, ගූගල් ෆොටෝස් වෙබ් අඩවිය බ්‍රවුසරය හරහා විවෘතව පවතින විට පමණක් මෙම බැකප් ක්‍රියාවලිය සිදුවීමයි.

ජංගම දුරකථන හරහා ඡායාරූප බැකප් කරන පරිශීලකයින්ට මෙයින් බලපෑමක් සිදු නොවන නමුත්, කැමරා හෝ ස්කෑනර් යන්ත්‍ර මගින් පරිගණකයට ලබාගන්නා ඡායාරූප බැකප් කිරීමට මෙම ක්‍රමය භාවිත කළ පිරිස් 2026 අගෝස්තු මසට පෙර නව ක්‍රමවේදයන්ට හුරු විය යුතු බව ගූගල් සමාගම වැඩිදුරටත් දන්වා සිටියි.

Google to Halt Automatic Photo Backup to Google Photos via Google Drive in August 2026

In a significant change, Google announced it will discontinue the automatic backup of photos and videos from Google Drive to Google Photos starting August 10, 2026. This decision aims to streamline backup tools and sharpen the focus on photo management through the Google Photos application.

Users who relied on the Google Drive application to sync folders from their computers to Google Photos will no longer have access to this feature after the cut-off date. Google emphasized that following August 10, 2026, Google Drive will not support backups to Google Photos. For users wishing to back up photos thereafter, they must upload images and videos directly from Google Drive to Google Photos.

However, the change does not affect the services of Google Drive or Google Photos, as the general file synchronization process will continue as usual. The only alteration involves the elimination of the automatic connection between the Drive software and the Photos service, assuring users that previously backed-up photos and videos will remain unaffected.

Moving forward, users will be given two options to back up photos directly from their computers via the Google Photos website. They can either select the relevant computer folder using the "+" button in Google Photos or import images directly from Google Drive.

One downside of this new process is that it will not operate automatically in the background like the previous system; the backup must take place while the Google Photos website is actively open in a browser.

Users who back up photos via mobile devices will not be impacted by this change. However, those accustomed to backing up images captured with cameras or scanners to their computers will need to adapt to new methods before the August 2026 deadline.
