මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දැක්වූ සමාජ ක්‍රියාකාරී අචල දිවාකර මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, X-Press Pearl නෞකාවේ වන්දි ලබා ගැනීම ප්‍රමාද වීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජනාධිපතිවරයාට සහ අගවිනිසුරුවරයාට එල්ල වන චෝදනා සුළුකොට තැකිය නොහැකි බවයි.

එම නිසා වහාම විමර්ශනයක් පවත්වා සත්‍යය අනාවරණය කර, රජයට හිමිවිය යුතු අදාළ වන්දි මුදල් කඩිනමින් අයකර ගැනීමට කටයුතු කළ යුතු බව ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

Call for Investigation into Allegations Against Chief Justice Priithipala Sureshena

In a significant move, the National Professionals and Civil Front has formally lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, urging an extensive investigation into the allegations facing Chief Justice Priithipala Sureshena as of today (25).

Drawing on concerns raised by Members of Parliament Rohini Kavirathne, Daya Siri Jayasekara, and Ajith Perera during recent parliamentary sessions, the complaint underscores the need for accountability.

The organization has highlighted the manner in which the Chief Justice and his family have acquired their wealth, along with the delays in claiming compensation for the extensive damage caused by the X-Press Pearl vessel accident off the Sri Lankan coast. They are calling for an impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding these issues.

Moreover, the complaint addresses recent scandals that have caused public outrage, including allegations of container fraud, coal fraud, and treasury fund misappropriation. They have requested prompt investigations into the charges leveled against the Speaker and the current Secretary to the President, urging the commission to report their findings to the courts.

Social activist Achala Divakara, commenting on the situation, pointed out the gravity of the accusations directed at the President and the Chief Justice regarding the delay in securing compensation from the X-Press Pearl incident, emphasizing that these claims cannot be overlooked.

He stressed the urgency of conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the truth and facilitate the timely recovery of the compensation owed to the government.
