සතොස වෙළෙඳසැල් 31ක් වසා දමයි..

2024 වසරේ ජනවාරි මාසයේ සිට 2025 වසරේ ඔක්තෝබර් මාසය දක්වා වූ කාලසීමාව තුළ දිවයින පුරා පිහිටි සතොස වෙළෙඳසැල් 31ක් වසා දමා ඇති බව වෙළෙඳ, වාණිජ, ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතා සහ සමුපකාර සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ආර්. එම්. ජයවර්ධන මහතා අද (08) පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී චානක මඩුගොඩ මහතා විසින් යොමු කරන ලද ප්‍රශ්නයකට පිළිතුරු දෙමින් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේ මේ වසරේ අගෝස්තු මස 17 වැනිදා වන විට දිවයින පුරා ක්‍රියාත්මක වන මුළු සතොස වෙළෙඳසැල් සංඛ්‍යාව 424ක් බවයි.

සතොස ආයතනය මුහුණ දී ඇති දැවැන්ත මූල්‍ය අර්බුදය පිළිබඳව කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළ නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා, වත්මන් රජය බලය ගන්නා අවස්ථාව වන විට එම ආයතනය රුපියල් බිලියන 24ක දැවැන්ත පාඩුවක් ලබා තිබූ බව අවධාරණය කළේය.

මීට අමතරව, එම කාලය වන විට සතොස ජාලය රුපියල් බිලියන 11ක ණය බරකින් සහ රුපියල් බිලියන 05ක බැංකු අයිරාවකින් සිටි බව ද හෙතෙම සභාවට දැනුම් දුන්නේය.

ආයතනයේ පවතින මෙම මූල්‍ය අස්ථාවරත්වය සහ පරිපාලනමය තීරණ මත අදාළ වෙළෙඳසැල් වසා දැමීමට සිදුව ඇති බව නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයාගේ ප්‍රකාශයෙන් ගම්‍ය විය.

Closure of 31 Sathosa Stores Announced Amid Financial Crisis

In a significant development for the retail sector, Minister of State for Trade, Commerce, Food Safety, and Cooperative Development, R. M. Jayawarden, revealed today that 31 Sathosa outlets across the island are scheduled to close between January 2024 and October 2025. This announcement was made during a parliamentary session.

Responding to a query from MP Chanaka Madugoda, the Minister disclosed that as of August 17 this year, there were 424 functioning Sathosa stores nationwide.

Highlighting the severe financial crisis faced by the Sathosa institution, the Minister emphasized that when the current government assumed power, the organization was grappling with a staggering loss of 24 billion rupees. Additionally, he pointed out that at that time, the Sathosa network was burdened with a debt of 11 billion rupees and faced another 5 billion rupees in bank liabilities.

The Minister's statements clarified that the decision to close these stores stems from ongoing financial instability within the institution, alongside various administrative decisions that have influenced its operational capacity.
