කොටගල වැවිලි සමාගම විසින් කොටගල කොමර්ෂල් ප්රදේශයේ ඩෙවෝන් දිය ඇල්ලට ජලය ගලා බසිනා ඩෙවෝන් ඇළ ආසන්නයේ ලී මෝලක් ඉදි කිරිමට එරෙහිව මේෆීල්ඩ් වත්තේ ලොග්ගිල් කොටසේ පදිංචිකරුවන් උද්ගෝෂණයක නිරත විය.
කොටගල ප්රාදේශීය සභාවේ අනුමැතියක් හෝ මධ්යම පරිසර අධිකාරියේ අනුමැතියක් නොමැතිව ජනාකීර්ණ ප්රදේශයක ලී මෝලක් ඉදි කිරිම නිසා ලී මෝලෙන් නැගෙන අධික ශබ්දය හමුවේ තම ජන ජීවිතයට බාධා සිදු වන බවත්, එම ස්ථානයේ ලී මෝලක් ඉදි කල හොත් විශාල පරිසර හානියක්ද සිදු වන බවයි උද්ගෝෂණයේ නිරතව සිටි ප්රදේශවාසීන් කියා සිටියේ.
ලී මෝල ඉදි කිරිමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති ඉඩම එම වතු සමාගමට අයිති ඉඩමක් බවත්, එම ඉඩමට ආසන්නයේ කතෝලික දේවස්ථානයක් සහ හින්දු කෝවිලක්ද පිහිටි බවත්, ලී මෝල නිසා එම ආගමික ස්ථානවල පැවැත්වෙන ආගමික කටයුතුවලටද බාධාවක් සිදු වන බවයි උද්ගෝෂණයේ නිරතව සිටි හැටන් මේෆීල්ඩ් වතුයායේ ලොග්ගිල් කොටසේ පදිංචිකරුවන් කියා සිටින්නේ.
අප මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් කොටගල ප්රාදේශීය සභාවේ නිළධාරියෙකුගෙන් කල විමසුමකට ඔහු කියා සිටියේ, ලී මෝලක් ඉදි කිරිම සදහා එම වතු සමාගම විසින් ඉල්ලුම්පත්රයක් ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති බවත්, එම ඉල්ලුම්පත්රයට මෙතෙක් අනුමැතිය ලබා දී නොමැති බවයි.
අප මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් එම වතුයායේ ජේෂ්ඨ සහකාර වතු අධිකාරිවරයාගෙන් කල විමසුමකට ඔහු කියා සිටියෙ තම වත්තේ වවා ඇති විශාල යූ කැලිප්ටිස් වර්ගයේ දැව කදන් ඉරිම සදහා ලී මෝලක් ඉදි කිරිමට අවශ්ය සියලුම බලපත්ර මේ වන විට තම වතු සමාගම විසින් ලබා ගෙන ඇති බවයි.
කොටගල ප්රදේශයේ දේශපාලඥයන් කිහිපදෙනෙකුගේ මැදිහත් වීමක් මත මෙම ලී මෝල ඉදි කිරිමේ කටයුතු නතර කිරිමට කටයුතු කරමින් සිටින බවද එම නිළධාරියා පැවසීය.
ලී මෝලක් ඉදි කිරිමට ඇතැම් පිරිස් දක්වන විරෝධය සම්බන්ධයෙන් වතු පාලන අධිකාරිය මගින් දිඹුල පතන පොලිසියටද පැමිණිල්ලක් කර ඇත.

Protests Erupt Over Proposed Pine Plantation in Kotagala
Residents of Loggill in the Meadowfield area have staged a protest against the planned establishment of a pine plantation near the Devons River in Kotagala's commercial sector. This initiative by the Kotagala Plantations company has raised serious concerns among locals about environmental and noise pollution.
Protesters highlighted the absence of necessary approvals from the Kotagala Pradeshiya Sabha and the Central Environmental Authority for the plantation project. There is widespread belief that the anticipated noise from the plantation would severely disrupt their lives and that constructing such a site in a populated area could lead to significant environmental damage.
Furthermore, the land in question is owned by the plantation company and is located close to both a Catholic church and a Hindu temple. Community members expressed their worries that the plantation could interfere with the religious activities conducted at these places of worship.
In response to inquiries, a representative from the Kotagala Pradeshiya Sabha confirmed that the plantation company had submitted an application for the establishment of the pine grove but as of now, no approval had been granted.
Meanwhile, the senior assistant plantation officer indicated that the company has acquired all necessary permits for the plantation, asserting the legality of their actions regarding the eucalyptus timber in the plantation area.
There are ongoing efforts to halt the plantation activities, reportedly due to interventions from several political figures in the Kotagala area. In light of the opposition expressed by some groups, the plantation management has filed a complaint with the Dimbula police to address these concerns.
