ජනාධිපතිවරයාගේ බේරුවල ජනරැලිය හේතුවෙන් මුහුදු ගිය ධීවරයන්ට වරායට පැමිණීමට නොහැකි වන ලෙස පොලිසිය නිවේදන නිකුත් කිරීම නිසා ධීවර ජනතාව අසරණ වී ඇතැයි විපක්ෂ නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස පැවසීය.

ධීවරයන්ට හානියක් නොවෙන්න රැස්වීම් තියන්න පවා ජනපතිට නොහැකි වී ඇතැයි ද විපක්ෂ නායකවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

බේරුවල ඉදි කර ඇති රැස්වීම් වේදිකාව ධීවර වරායට බෝට්ටු ඇතුළු වන ප්‍රවේශයට මුහුණලා පිහිටා ඇති බැවින් මෙලෙස බෝට්ටු පැමිණීම නතර කර ඇතැයි ද ඔහු කීය. ඒ අනුව පැය දෙකක කාලයක් සියලු බෝට්ටු පිටත මුහුදේ රඳවා තබාගෙන සිටි බවද ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

විපක්ෂ නායක සජිත් ප්‍රේමදාස මේ බව පැවසූයේ, සමගි වනිතා බලවේගයේ, රත්තොට ආසන බල මණ්ඩලය පිහටුවීමේ රැස්වීම අමතමිනි.

අනුර කුමාර ජනාධිපතිවරයා විපක්ෂයේ සිටින විට එවක පැවැති රජය 20 වැනි සංශෝධනය ගෙන ආ අවස්ථාවේ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ තුනෙන් දෙකට අමතරව ජනමත විචාරණයක් අවශ්‍ය බව පැවසූ ඔවුන්ම අද 22 වැනි සංශෝධනය ගෙන එන අවස්ථාවේ එවැන්නක් අවශ්‍ය නොවන බව පවසන්නේ යැයි විපක්ෂ නායකවරයා පැවසීය.

20 වැනි සංශෝධනයට ජනමත විචාරණය අවශ්‍යයි නම් 22 සංශෝධනයට ද එය අවශ්‍ය නේදැයි ජනාධිපතිවරයාගෙන් ප්‍රශ්න කරන බවද ඔහු කීය.

22 වැනි ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනයෙන් අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වයට හානි වී නීතියේ ආධිපත්‍ය වල්වැදෙන බවද ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

මනුෂ්‍යත්වය නැති මිනිස් අයිතිවාසිකම් උල්ලංඝනය කරන අධිකරණයේ නිදහස ගණන් නොගන්නා මේ ඒකාධිපතිවාදය පටන් ගත්තේ යෞවන සමාජ නිලවරණ හා සිවිල් ආරක්ෂ කමිටු නිලවරණවලින් බවත්, පැලවත්තේ ලිස්ට් එකට සාමාජිකයන් පත් කළ මේ රජය ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය විනාශ කළ බවත් විපක්ෂ නායකවරයා මෙහිදී සඳහන් කළේය.

Opposition Leader Criticizes Government’s Handling of Fishermen’s Access Amid Rally Restrictions

In a recent statement, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa expressed grave concerns over the plight of fishermen denied access to the harbor due to police-issued notifications linked to a rally held by the President in Beruwala. He described the situation as increasingly dire for the fishing community, which has been left vulnerable.

Premadasa emphasized that even holding meetings to ensure the safety of the fishermen had become impossible for the President, highlighting the severe impact of the rally's location on the local fishing industry.

He explained that the platform erected for the rally obstructed the entrance to the fishing harbor, preventing boats from reaching their docking area. As a result, all fishing boats were reportedly held out at sea for two hours.

These remarks were made by the Opposition Leader during a rally organized by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya in Ratthorwita.

Premadasa noted that when Anura Kumara Dissanayake was in power, the government then had required a public referendum for the 20th Amendment. However, he pointed out a contradiction in the current administration's stance, arguing that such a referendum is deemed unnecessary for the proposed 22nd Amendment.

He questioned the logic of needing a public vote for the 20th Amendment but not for the 22nd, probing the President for clarity on this inconsistency.

Furthermore, Premadasa warned that the 22nd Constitutional Amendment poses a threat to judicial independence and may undermine the rule of law. He condemned what he termed an authoritarian approach that disregards human rights and the freedom of the judiciary, characteristics that have emerged from recent electoral processes involving youth and civil security commissions.

The Opposition Leader concluded by accusing the current government of systematically destroying democracy, referring to the appointments made in Pelawatta, which he believes reflects an erosion of democratic principles.
