 වතුකරයේ දේශපාලඥයන් ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කර ඇති ලංකා කම්කරු කොංග්‍රසයේ මහ ලේකම් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්‍ත්‍රී ජීවන් තොන්ඩමන් මහතා ගිලිහි ගිය බලය යලි ලබා ගැනීම සදහා කරන ප්‍රකාශ පදනම් විරහිත බව (ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ) නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී මංජුල සුරවීරආරච්චි මහතා පවසයි.

මාධ්‍යට (14) දින විශේෂ ප්‍රකාශයක් කරමින් මංජුල සුරවිආරච්චි මහතා කියා සිටියේ. දිට්වා සුළි කුණාටුවෙන් පූර්ණ හානි වූ වතු නිවාස 797ක්, අර්ධ හානි සිදු වූ වතු නිවාස 627ක් පැවති රජයන් සමයේ ඉදි කිරිම් කටයුතු අතරමග නතර කල නිවාස 284ක ඉදි කිරිම් මේ වනවිට ආරම්භ කර ඇති බවයි.

වසර ගණනාවක් බලයේ රැදී සිටි තොන්ඩමන්ලාට විසදන්නට බැරි වූ වතු නිවාස ගැටළුව වත්මන් රජය හමුවේ විසදුම් ලබා දෙන බවත්, ජනතා වතු සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලයේ වසර 20ක් කාලයක් ගෙවීමට නොහැකිව තිබූ සේවක පාරිතෝෂිත දීමනා වෙනුවෙන් රජය රු.බිලියන 4.5ක මුදලක් මේ වන විට ගෙවා ඇති බවයි.

වතුකම්කරුවන්ගේ වැටුප් වැඩි කිරිමද වත්මන් රජය විසින් සිදු කර ඇති බවත්, වතුකරයේ ජනතාව රජය කෙරෙහි විශ්වාසයක් ඇති බවත්, එම විශ්වාසය කඩ නොකර වතුකම්කරුවන්ගේ යටිතල පහසුකම් නංවාලීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවයි මංජුල සුරවීරආරච්චි මහතා කියා සිටියේ.

තවද, හැටන් නගරයේ පිහිටි කලාප අධ්‍යාපන කාර්යාලය ගිනිගත්හේනට රැගෙන යන බවට තොන්ඩමන් මහතා විසින් කර ඇති ප්‍රකාශයද පදනම් විරහිත ප්‍රකාශයක් බවයි මංජුල සුරවීආරච්චි මහතා කියා සිටියේ.

Political Responses to Thondaman's Claims on Estate Housing Issues

In the wake of statements made by Jivan Thondaman, Secretary of the Lanka Labour Congress, regarding the restoration of power, Manjula Surawirachchi, a Parliament member from the National People's Power coalition, has dismissed the claims as unfounded. Thondaman's assertions appear to lack substantive basis, according to Surawirachchi, who emphasized the need for political leaders to acknowledge realities in estate communities.

Speaking to the media on the 14th, Surawirachchi disclosed that a total of 797 estate houses were completely destroyed and 627 suffered partial damage as a result of the recent tropical storm, while construction was halted on 284 houses that began during previous governance. He noted that efforts to resume these construction projects are now underway.

Surawirachchi highlighted that the current government is actively working to address longstanding issues related to estate housing, which previous administrations, including the Thondaman-led faction, have failed to resolve. He further mentioned that the government has already disbursed 4.5 billion rupees in overdue employee benefits to workers of the Estate Development Board, which had not been paid for the past two decades.

He pointed out that the government has also implemented wage increases for estate workers, and the people in the estates are starting to regain confidence in their leadership. Surawirachchi stressed the importance of maintaining this trust and taking significant steps to enhance the infrastructure and living conditions for the community.

Additionally, Surawirachchi labeled Thondaman's comments regarding the relocation of the regional education office in Hatton as baseless, further reinforcing his call for a more constructive dialogue among political stakeholders.
