සැකකටයුතු ලෙස වත්කම් උපයාගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ නීතිවිරෝධී වත්කම් විමර්ශන කොට්ඨාසය විසින් සිදු කරනු ලබන විමර්ශනවල නීත්‍යනුකූලභාවය අභියෝගයට ලක් කරමින් තමන් ඉදිරිපත් කළ රිට් පෙත්සම ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට නිරූපණ ශිල්පිනි පියුමි හංසමාලි පියවර ගත්තාය.

නීතිපතිවරයා වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි අතිරේක සොලිසිටර් ජනරාල් ශනිල් කුලරත්න මහතා අධිකරණය හමුවේ කරුණු දක්වමින් කියා සිටියේ, ඇයගේ වත්කම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පුළුල් විමර්ශනයක් සිදු කරමින් සිටින බවත්, එම පරීක්ෂණ කටයුතු අවසන් කිරීම සඳහා නිශ්චිත කාලසීමාවක් ප්‍රකාශ කළ නොහැකි බවත්ය.

එම විමර්ශන සම්පූර්ණ කිරීම සඳහා අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට තවදුරටත් ප්‍රමාණවත් කාලයක් අවශ්‍ය වන බවද හෙතෙම සඳහන් කළේය.

මායාදුන්නේ කොරයා සහ ලක්මාලි කරුණානායක යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන්ගෙන් සමන්විත අභියාචනාධිකරණ ද්විපුද්ගල විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල හමුවේ මෙම පෙත්සම අද දින සලකා බලන ලදී.

එහිදී පියුමි හංසමාලි වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි ජනාධිපති නීතිඥ රොනල්ඩ් පෙරේරා මහතා අධිකරණයට කරුණු දක්වමින්, සිය සේවාදායිකාව මෙතෙක් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන නොමැති බැවින් මෙම පෙත්සම ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට අවසර ලබා දෙන ලෙස ඉල්ලා සිටියේය.

එමෙන්ම අවශ්‍යතාවක් මතු වුවහොත් ඉදිරියේදී නැවත නව පෙත්සමක් ගොනු කිරීමේ නීතිමය අයිතිය රඳවා ගනිමින් පෙත්සම ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට අවසර දෙන ලෙසද ඔහු අධිකරණයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියේය.

දෙපාර්ශ්වය විසින් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලද කරුණු සලකා බැලූ අභියාචනාධිකරණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල, අදාළ රිට් පෙත්සම ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට පියුමි හංසමාලි වෙත අවසර ලබා දුන්නේය.

Model Piyumi Hansamali Withdraws Legal Challenge Against Ongoing Investigations

In a significant development, model Piyumi Hansamali has decided to withdraw her legal challenge aimed at questioning the legitimacy of ongoing investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into questionable asset acquisition. This move comes amidst her ongoing legal predicament.

Representing the Attorney General, Additional Solicitor General Shani Kularatne informed the court that the CID is indeed involved in an extensive investigation regarding Hansamali's assets. He noted, however, that it is impossible to provide a specific timeline for the conclusion of these inquiries.

Kularatne further emphasized that the CID requires additional time to thoroughly complete the investigation.

The appeal was heard today before a two-judge bench of the Court of Appeal, comprising Justices Mayadunne Koraya and Lakmali Karunanayake.

During the proceedings, Ronald Pereira, appearing on behalf of Piyumi Hansamali, argued that since his client has not been arrested to date, she should be granted permission to withdraw her application. He also requested that should the need arise in the future, Hansamali retains the right to file a new application.

After considering the arguments presented, the Court of Appeal duly granted Hansamali permission to withdraw her application.
