Opposition MP Alleges Government Manipulation at Event in Polonnaruwa

During a gathering in Polonnaruwa, opposition member Prasanna Siriwardena accused the government, led by Didula Siri Seena, of orchestrating a show of support that he claims was fabricated. This allegation arose during his speech at the Malima rally, where he emphasized that the attendees, who appeared to enthusiastically support the government, were predominantly employees of the Araliya Group of Companies.

Siriwardena pointed out the nature of the event, describing how the government's support was being bolstered through this calculated presence of workers from the Araliya conglomerate. He further highlighted that all officials from the Araliya Group were urged via their social media platforms to attend the government-sponsored event.

Moreover, he remarked on the presence of government minister Bimal Ratnayake at the event, noting that he was even seen engaging in symbolic gestures while inaugurating a railway station. Siriwardena expressed satisfaction in highlighting how such actions were interpreted as lessons in governance for the ineffectual leaders present, underscoring the ongoing tension between the opposition and the ruling administration.
