 දක්ෂිණ අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ බස් ධාවන බලපත්‍ර නිකුත් කිරීමේදී සිදුවූ බව කියන දූෂණ චෝදනාවක් මත රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කර සිටින ජාතික ගමනාගමන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ හිටපු සභාපති රේණුක පෙරේරා මහතා සිය මාමණ්ඩිය බවට සමාජ මාධ්‍ය ඔස්සේ පැතිර යන වාර්තා අසත්‍ය බව හිටපු සුපිරි ක්‍රිකට් ක්‍රීඩක ලසිත් මාලිංග අවධාරණය කරයි.

රේණුක පෙරේරා මහතා අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කිරීමත් සමඟ, ඔහු ලසිත් මාලිංගගේ බිරිඳගේ පියා බවට සමාජ මාධ්‍ය ජාලාවල දැඩි කතාබහක් නිර්මාණය විය.

2014 වසරේදී අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩල තීරණ උල්ලංඝනය කරමින් දක්ෂිණ අධිවේගී මාර්ගය සඳහා බස් බලපත්‍ර 56ක් නිකුත් කිරීම හරහා රජයට රුපියල් කෝටි 3යි ලක්ෂ 89කට (38,964,829) අධික පාඩුවක් සිදුකිරීමේ චෝදනාව මත අල්ලස් කොමිසම විසින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් රේණුක පෙරේරා මහතා, ලබන සැප්තැම්බර් 29 වැනිදා දක්වා රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කිරීමට කොළඹ ප්‍රධාන මහේස්ත්‍රාත්වරයා නියෝග කර තිබේ.

Former National Transport Commission Chairman Arrested Amid Corruption Allegations

Renuka Perera, the former Chairman of the National Transport Commission, has been arrested and placed in remand custody following allegations of corruption related to the issuance of bus operating licenses for the Southern Expressway. Amidst swirling rumors on social media, famed cricketer Lasith Malinga has clarified that claims linking Perera to his family are unfounded.

The arrest has sparked significant discussion online, particularly due to Perera’s familial connection to Malinga, as he is reportedly the father-in-law of the cricketer. Lasith Malinga took to his official Facebook account to address the situation, affirming that Renuka Perera is actually the father of only two sons and is not related to him.

Moreover, Malinga criticized the groups attempting to create false narratives surrounding the issue, stating that his uncle currently resides in the United States. He urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation based on baseless claims.

The allegations against Perera include the improper issuance of 56 bus licenses in 2014, which purportedly led to a significant loss of 389 million rupees (approximately USD 38.96 million) to the government, in violation of cabinet decisions. A commission investigating corruption conducted the arrest, and the Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered that Perera remain in remand custody until September 29.
