අධ්යාපනය ලැබීමේ සැබෑ අරමුණ වන්නේ ලෝකය නිවැරදිව තේරුම් ගෙන එය වඩාත් යහපත් ලෙස වෙනස් කිරීම බවත්, එම පදනම තමන්ට කියාදුන්නේ පාසල් පද්ධතිය නොව තහනමට ලක්ව තිබූ යුගයේ ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණ විසින් පවත්වන ලද ‘නිල නොවන පාසලකින්’ බවත් කෘෂිකර්ම, පශු සම්පත්, ඉඩම් සහ වාරිමාර්ග අමාත්ය කේ.ඩී. ලාල් කාන්ත මහතා ප්රකාශ කළේය.
අධ්යාපනික උත්සවයක් අමතමින් අමාත්යවරයා සිය අතීත අත්දැකීම් සිහිපත් කරමින් පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, තමන් උසස් පෙළ ගණිත අංශයෙන් හදාරමින් සිටි කාලයේ එවකට තහනමට ලක්ව තිබූ ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණේ දින හතක නේවාසික දේශපාලන අධ්යාපන කඳවුරකට සහභාගි වීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබුණු බවයි.
අනුරාධපුරයේ මල්වතු ඔය අයිනේ, කෙසෙල් සහ වම්බටු වගාවන්ගෙන් වටවුණු කටුමැටි ගැසූ හේන් පැලක, ගොම මැටි ගෑ බිම පැදුරු දමාගෙන එම දින හතේ නේවාසික අධ්යාපනය හැදෑරූ ආකාරය ඔහු විස්තර කළේය.
එහිදී සරම සහ බැනියම හැඳ සිටි එම පාසලේ තරුණ විදුහල්පතිවරයා පිරිසෙන් විමසූ මූලිකම ප්රශ්නය වූයේ "ඇයි ඉගෙන ගන්නේ?" යන්න බවත්, පළමු වසරේ සිට උසස් පෙළ දක්වා නිල අධ්යාපන පද්ධතිය තුළින් කිසිදු දිනක නොලැබුණු පිළිතුර එම නිල නොවන පාසලෙන් තමන්ට හිමිවූ බවත් අමාත්යවරයා පැවසීය.
"ඉගෙන ගන්නේ ලෝකය තේරුම් ගන්න. ලෝකය තේරුම් ගන්නේ දැන් තියෙනවාට වඩා යහපත් ලෙස ලෝකය සකස් කරන්න හෙවත් වෙනස් කරන්න" යනුවෙන් එම තරුණ විදුහල්පතිවරයා ලබාදුන් පිළිතුර මුළු ජීවිතයටම මඟපෙන්වීමක් වූ බව හෙතෙම සඳහන් කළේය.
මෙරට දේශපාලන පක්ෂ අතරින් තම සාමාජිකයන්ට විධිමත් අධ්යාපනයක් ලබාදුන් එකම දේශපාලන පක්ෂය ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණ බවද ඔහු මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
එමෙන්ම අධ්යාපනය ලබන දරුවන් සහ තරුණ පරපුර අතට හසුවන සෑම පොතක්ම කියවීම වෙනුවට, තමන්ගේ මූලික පදනම ගොඩනගා ගැනීමට සහ අරමුණ සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීමට අවශ්ය නිශ්චිත දැනුම තෝරා බේරාගෙන කියවිය යුතු බවත්, අනවශ්ය දේ බැහැර කර අත්යවශ්ය දැනුම ඔස්සේ ජීවිතය ගොඩනගා ගත යුතු බවත් අමාත්ය කේ.ඩී. ලාල් කාන්ත මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.
The True Purpose of Education: Transforming the World, Says Minister K.D. Lal Kantha
The essence of education lies in understanding the world accurately and striving for its betterment, asserted Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation, K.D. Lal Kantha. He revealed that this foundational perspective was imparted to him not by the formal school system, but through an "unofficial school" organized by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) during a repressive era.
Speaking at an educational event, the minister reflected on his own experiences, recalling a time when he participated in a week-long residential political education camp hosted by the JVP while studying advanced level mathematics.
He vividly described how this camp, conducted in Anuradhapura's Malwathu Oya area amidst plantations of bananas and jackfruit, facilitated his understanding of informal education in a unique setting.
The key question posed by the school's young headmaster to the participants was, "Why do we learn?" The minister shared that the answer he received at that unofficial school was something the formal education system had failed to provide throughout his academic journey from the first year to advanced levels.
"We learn to understand the world. The goal is not just to comprehend but to reshape the world for the better," he recounted, emphasizing that this response was a guiding principle in his life.
Highlighting the JVP's commitment, he noted that it is the only political party in Sri Lanka that has ensured its members receive systematic education.
Moreover, he urged the youth to select and focus on specific knowledge that would lay a solid foundation for their goals, rather than aimlessly reading every book available. The minister stressed the necessity of prioritizing essential knowledge to construct a meaningful life while discarding the superfluous.
