 අධිකරණ පද්ධතිය තුළ මේ වන විට ගොඩගැසී ඇති ලක්ෂ 11කට අධික නඩු සංඛ්‍යාව කඩිනමින් විසඳා ජනතාවට යුක්තිය පසිඳලීම සඳහා විශ්‍රාම වයස් සීමාවන් සංශෝධනය කරමින් ප්‍රවීණයන්ගේ සේවය රටට ලබාගත යුතු බව ජනමාධ්‍ය නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය නීතිඥ කෞෂල්‍යා ආරියරත්න මෙනෙවිය ප්‍රකාශ කළාය.

වත්මන් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සාමාන්‍ය ආයු අපේක්ෂාව වසර 73 ඉක්මවා ගොස් ඇති බව පෙන්වා දෙන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරිය, මිනිසුන් ශාරීරිකව මෙන්ම මානසිකව ද යහපත් සෞඛ්‍ය තත්ත්වයකින් පසුවන අවධියක ඔවුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම ගැන්වීමේ වයස් සීමාවන් ද වෙනස් විය යුතු බව පෙන්වා දුන්නාය.

විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීම තුළින් ඔවුන් සතු පරිණත අත්දැකීම් රට වෙනුවෙන් උපරිමයෙන් ලබාගැනීමට හැකියාව ලැබෙන බවත්, මෙවැනි වටිනා මානව සම්පතක් නොමේරූ ලෙස පද්ධතියෙන් ඉවත් කර දැමීම නොකළ යුත්තක් බවත් ඇය අවධාරණය කළාය.

එමෙන්ම අධිකරණ ක්‍රියාවලියේදී නඩු ප්‍රමාදයට ප්‍රධාන හේතුවක් වී පැවති රජයේ රස පරීක්ෂක වාර්තා නිකුත් කිරීමේ වේගය මේ වන විට තුන් ගුණයකින් වැඩි කර ඇති බව ද ඇය සඳහන් කළාය.

නීතිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ආයතනවල භෞතික මෙන්ම මානව සම්පත් සංවර්ධනයට රජය මේ වන විටත් පියවර ගෙන ඇති බවත්, නව අධිකරණ පිහිටුවීමට මෙන්ම සමස්ත අධිකරණ පද්ධතියම ඩිජිටල්කරණය කිරීමට ද අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු යොදා ඇති බවත් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරිය වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටියාය.

Justice and Aging: Deputy Minister Calls for Revisions to Retirement Age for Judiciary Experts

With over 1.1 million cases currently pending in the Sri Lankan court system, Deputy Minister of Media, Attorney-at-Law Kaushalya Ariyaratne has emphasized the urgent need to modify retirement age limits to leverage the expertise of seasoned professionals and expedite justice delivery to the public.

Ariyaratne highlighted that the average life expectancy in Sri Lanka has now surpassed 73 years, underscoring the importance of allowing individuals whose health—both physical and mental—remains robust, to continue contributing beyond traditional retirement ages.

Extending the retirement age would enable experienced personnel to provide invaluable insights and services, which would be a disservice to the nation if they were prematurely removed from the system, she pointed out.

She also noted that the speed of releasing government forensic reports, a leading cause of delays in court proceedings, has now been tripled, addressing one of the significant backlogs affecting the legal framework.

The Deputy Minister further elaborated that the government is actively taking steps to enhance both the physical and human resources within legal institutions. Initiatives are underway not only to establish new courts but also to digitize the entire judicial system, ensuring a more efficient operation moving forward.
