 බලපා ඇති දැඩි නියඟය හමුවේ පීඩාවට පත්ව සිටින ජනතාවට පානීය ජලය සැපයීමේ වත්මන් යාන්ත්‍රණයේ සහ චක්‍රලේඛවල පවතින ගැටලු හේතුවෙන් එම ක්‍රියාවලිය වඩාත් කාර්යක්ෂම කිරීම සඳහා නව පියවර ගන්නා බව අමාත්‍ය සුසිල් රණසිංහ මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, පවතින වියළි කාලගුණය හේතුවෙන් මොනරාගල සහ මඩකලපුව යන දිස්ත්‍රික්කවල වැඩිම පවුල් සංඛ්‍යාවකට මේ වන විට බවුසර් මගින් ජලය සැපයීමට සිදුව ඇති බවයි.

ජලය බෙදා හැරීමේ ක්‍රියාවලියේදී දැනට පවතින චක්‍රලේඛ සහ යාන්ත්‍රණයේ යම් යම් බාධාවන් පවතින බවත්, එම තත්ත්වය මඟහරවා ගැනීම සඳහා අදාළ චක්‍රලේඛ කඩිනමින් සංශෝධනය කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

මෙම දැවැන්ත කාර්යය ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවලට හෝ ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාලවලට පමණක් තනිව සිදු කළ නොහැකි බව අවධාරණය කළ අමාත්‍යවරයා, මේ සඳහා රජයේ මෙන්ම පෞද්ගලික අංශයේ දායකත්වය අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බව පැවසීය.

ඒ අනුව ගම් මට්ටමින් පවතින සමිති සමාගම්, පෞද්ගලික අංශය මෙන්ම ට්‍රැක්ටර් සහ ජල ටැංකි හිමි පුද්ගලයින්ගේ සහයෝගය ද මෙම ජල බෙදා හැරීමේ කටයුතු සඳහා ලබාගත යුතු බව අමාත්‍ය සුසිල් රණසිංහ මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියේය.

Minister Proposes New Measures to Improve Water Supply amid Severe Drought

In response to the ongoing severe drought affecting the populace, Minister of Water Supply, Susil Premajayantha, has announced plans to enhance the efficiency of the current water distribution mechanisms. Highlighting existing challenges in the supply chain and logistical processes, the Minister emphasized the need for swift action to rectify these issues.

With the current dry weather conditions impacting the regions of Monaragala and Madakalapuwa, a significant number of households are relying on private water tankers for their supply. The Minister pointed out that this reliance underscores the urgent necessity for improved systems and practices in water distribution.

During his address, he acknowledged the shortfalls in the existing operational cycle and clarified that immediate revisions to the relevant protocols would be initiated to overcome the operational hurdles faced.

Stressing that the immense task cannot be tackled solely by local councils or divisional secretariat offices, he pointed out the essential involvement of both government and private sectors in these water supply efforts.

Furthermore, Minister Premajayantha called for the collaboration of grassroots community organizations, private sector entities, and individuals owning water tanks and tractors, to be actively engaged in the water distribution initiatives to effectively address the crisis.
