 ජනමත විචාරණයක් පවත්වා ජනාධිපතිවරණය කල් දැමීමට රජය සූදානම් වන බවට එල්ල වන චෝදනා ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරයි.

බුලත්සිංහල ප්‍රදේශයේ පැවැති ජන රැළියක් අමතමින් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

එවැනි චෝදනා නගන පිරිස්වලට දේශපාලන තර්කනය පිළිබඳ අවබෝධයක් නොමැති බව පැවසූ ජනාධිපතිවරයා, ජනමත විචාරණයක් පැවැත්වුවහොත් බෙදෙන්නේ දෙකට බවත් ජනාධිපතිවරණයකදී විපක්ෂය කෑලි කෑලි බෙදී යන බව පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

"ජනමත විචාරණයක් ගෙනාවොත් දෙකට බෙදෙන්නෙ. එහෙම තත්ත්වයක් තියාගෙන ජනමත විචාරණ ගේනවද?" යනුවෙන් ඔහු ප්‍රශ්න කර සිටියේය.

ජනාධිපතිවරණය සහ මහ මැතිවරණය නියමිත පරිදි පවත්වන බවත්, රජය ජනතාව හමුවට යාමට කිසිසේත්ම බිය නොවන බවත් ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

"අපි ජනතාව ගාවට එනවා. අපිට ජනතාවට බය වෙන්න දෙයක් නැහැ," යැයි ද ඔහු පැවසීය.

මීට අමතරව, පළාත් සභා මැතිවරණය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ද අදහස් දැක්වූ ජනාධිපතිවරයා, ඒ සඳහා පවතින නීතිමය බාධාවන් ඉවත් වූ වහාම එම මැතිවරණය ද පැවැත්වීමට රජය කටයුතු කරන බව සහතික විය.

President Dismisses Allegations of Delaying Elections Amid Public Rally

Amidst rising allegations that the government is preparing to postpone upcoming elections under the guise of a public referendum, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake adamantly refuted such claims during a public rally in the Bulathsinghala area.

Addressing the crowd, he asserted that those making such accusations demonstrate a lack of understanding of political realities, emphasizing that a public referendum would only serve to divide the opposition further during elections. "If a referendum takes place, it would lead to fragmentation. Are we to hold a referendum in such a situation?" he challenged.

The President reassured attendees that both the presidential and parliamentary elections would be conducted as scheduled, asserting that the government harbors no apprehensions about engaging with the public. "We are coming to the people. We have no reason to fear the populace," he stated firmly.

Additionally, he addressed the topic of provincial council elections, assuring that once existing legal hurdles are removed, the government would take immediate action to facilitate those elections.

In his remarks, Dissanayake reinforced the government's commitment to a transparent electoral process, aiming to foster a political environment conducive to democratic participation.
