Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong thunderstorms inundated the bus station and various areas of Nawalapitiya on the afternoon of the 5th, significantly hindering transportation in the region.
In light of the adverse weather conditions, local authorities in Nawalapitiya have urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads. The police emphasized the importance of careful driving due to the slippery surfaces and reduced visibility caused by fog and rain.
Meanwhile, the excessive rainfall in the Nuwara Eliya area has led to flooding in low-lying regions, impacting both farmers and residents. The intense downpour not only affected Nuwara Eliya city but also reached neighboring rural areas, causing considerable hardship for vegetable growers and the general populace.
The heavy rains have further obstructed traffic flow in the central parts of Nuwara Eliya, compounding the challenges faced by commuters.
