Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya Provides Urgent Medical Support to Maharagama Apeksha Hospital
In a significant initiative, the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya has mobilized essential medicines, surgical supplies, and medical equipment to ensure continuous treatment for cancer patients at Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama. This proactive measure aims to address the pressing need for healthcare provision highlighted by reports published on October 4, 2026.
The Devalaya's commitment to sustaining uninterrupted patient care was triggered by a specific emphasis placed on the hospital’s medical supply requirements. In response, MP Thilina Madhushanka has instructed the allocation of Rs. 1,500,000 as the first step toward bolstering medical services without hindrance.
To facilitate prompt action, the hospital administration, led by Director Dr. Suranga Dolamulla, has been officially notified today (October 5, 2026) to prepare a detailed inventory and assessment of the urgently needed drugs and medical consumables.
The fund will be executed expeditiously by the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya, which is also determined to maintain ongoing social welfare programs aimed at enhancing the health and recovery of patients. This commitment reflects a strong dedication to community service and support for the well-being of those in need.
