කඩුගන්නාව නගර සභාවට අයවිය යුතු බදු මුදල් නොගෙවීම මුල් කරගනිමින් ඇති වූ බහින්බස්වීමක් දුරදිග යාමෙන් අනතුරුව, සමගි ජන බලවේගය නියෝජනය කරන කඩුගන්නාව නගර සභාපතිවරයා ඇතුළු තිදෙනෙකු තම සැමියාට පහරදුන් බව පවසමින් කාන්තාවක විසින් කඩුගන්නාව පොලිසිය වෙත පැමිණිල්ලක් ඉදිරිපත් කර තිබේ.
පහරකෑමට ලක් වූ බව කියන කඩුගන්නාව, ගෝනාවල ප්‍රදේශයේ පදිංචිකරුවකු වන අදාළ පුද්ගලයා සිද්ධියෙන් තුවාල ලබා ප්‍රතිකාර සඳහා මුලින්ම කඩුගන්නාව රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර ඇති අතර, පසුව වැඩිදුර ප්‍රතිකාර සඳහා පේරාදෙණිය ශික්ෂණ රෝහල වෙත මාරු කර යවා ඇති බව පොලිසිය තහවුරු කරයි.
පසුගිය 29 වැනිදා අදාළ පුද්ගලයාගේ බිරිඳ විසින් මෙම පැමිණිල්ල ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇත්තේ, නගර සභාවට බදු මුදල් ගෙවීම පැහැරහැරියේ යැයි පවසමින් නගර සභාපතිවරයා සහ තවත් දෙදෙනෙකු එක්ව තම සැමියාට අමානුෂික ලෙස පහරදුන් බවට චෝදනා කරමිනි.
මේ අතර, අදාළ සිදුවීමට සම්බන්ධ කඩුගන්නාව නගර සභාවේ සභාපතිවරයා ද සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් කඩුගන්නාව පොලිසිය හමුවේ ප්‍රතිපැමිණිල්ලක් ගොනු කර තිබේ. එහිදී සභාපතිවරයා පවසා ඇත්තේ රෝහල්ගතව සිටින අදාළ පුද්ගලයා විසින් තමන්ට පහරදීමක් සිදුකළ බවයි.
දෙපාර්ශ්වයෙන්ම ලැබී ඇති මෙම පැමිණිලි පිළිබඳව කඩුගන්නාව පොලිසිය මඟින් පුළුල් විමර්ශන ආරම්භ කර ඇත.
Violent Confrontation Erupts Over Unpaid Municipal Taxes in Kadugannawa
A woman has filed a complaint with the Kadugannawa Police, alleging that her husband was assaulted by the Chairman of the Kadugannawa Municipal Council, representing the United Peoples' Freedom Alliance, along with two others. This incident unfolded following a heated dispute over unpaid tax revenues owed to the local council.
The alleged victim, a resident of the Gonawala area, suffered injuries during the confrontation and initially received treatment at Kadugannawa Hospital before being transferred to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for further care, police sources confirmed.
The complaint, lodged on the 29th of last month by the man's wife, accuses the municipal chairman and his associates of brutally beating her husband, claiming they were angered over the tax payments that had been reportedly misappropriated.
In response to the allegations, the municipal chairman has also submitted a counter-complaint to the Kadugannawa Police, stating that the injured party had assaulted him during the incident.
In light of the conflicting reports from both sides, Kadugannawa Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
