Students in Nanu Oya Face Challenges Due to Flooding

In Nanu Oya, the ongoing flooding has thrown daily life into disarray for numerous students who rely on the shortcut route from Nanu Oya to Radella. Following heavy rains on the 18th, many are now wading through thick mud, creating significant hardships.

Although the floodwaters at the Carliback junction have receded, what remains is a thick layer of sludge on the main road, compounding difficulties for those traveling along this route.

The situation worsens with the unpredictable weather in Nuwara Eliya, where heavy downpours during the evening often flood the main road at Carliback with mud and water.

This not only damages students' footwear and uniforms but also raises concerns about possible health hazards. Students, ranging from young children to teenagers, are struggling to protect their shoes, clothes, and school bags from the muddy conditions while traveling this hazardous path.

Residents are urgently calling for immediate repairs to the road, advocating for action to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. They are also requesting measures to prevent water accumulation or flooding in the area.
